OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
At 9;30 A.M. Tuesday, December 13, 1960; the regular monthly
meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of ''equesta was held at the
Village office in Village Square Shopping Center, Tequesta, Florida.
Councilmen present were; Robert C. Valier, Cecil Cornelius, Walter F.
Lathrop, John P. Kurtz and Thomas H. Daly. Also present were Robert
harp, clerk, Attorney Bill Jackson and Commissioner J. R. Sutton, Jr.
Others present were; David Lewis H.M. Booth, V. Birong and
Mr. McDonald, all from Jupiter in the Pines; Mr. Irvin Schlusemeyer
representing Mr. William Schlusemeyer developer of Jupiter in the Pines;
Messrs. Middleton and C raig from Waterway Village residents association
and Mr. Renninger.
Mr. Schlusemeyer addressed the Council and the delegation from
Jupiter in the Pines relative to the drainage problem in that section
of the Village. He stated that they were well aware of the seriousness
of the problem and advised both Council and the delegation that they,'
as developers of the area are going to do something about the drainage
immediately. he advised that a topo of the area has already been made.
Mr. Schlusemeyer also presented a plat showing a re- subdivisiion
of that portion of Jupiter in the Pines, Sec. B. on the corner of
Seabrook Road and l equesta Drive. This area would consist of shopping
center, parking area and site for Village Hall. The area is approximately
620 x 315 To conform with the plat, all property for a depth of
approximately 300 running on north side of Tequesta Drive east to
railroad would be zoned for nice looking small shops such as men and womens
wear, beauty and barber shops etc. Council unanimously agreed to dis-
cuss the proposed plat with residents of 'Jupiter in the pines to get
their reaction prior to final approval of the plat. If no adverse comment
council unanimously agreed to accept plat as presented
Mr. Carig and Mr. Middleton appeared before the meeting as
representatives of the Waterway Village Property Owners Association to
see if they could help in any manner to get Waterway Village into
Tequesta. They_rvere advised that under the present charter they could
not be taken in wothout 100% approval of property owners. They also req-
uested that in event they are taken into the Village that they would
like to have a councilman from Waterway Village on the council at all
times.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's report for period ended November 30, 1960 showing
balance of $3,417.19 in General Fund and $2,311.90 in Cigarette Tax
fund was read and approved.
Council was advised that ocean front property is now for sale
by Bessemer Properties and that it would be advisable. for Village to
look into purchase for future Village use. It was moved by Cornelius,
seconded by Valier that council should look into the purchase of ocean
Front property and clerk was instructed to write Mr. Julian Field of
Bessemer Properties to find out what land is available, price and terms.
Motion was unanimously approved.
It was the general feeling of councilmen that we should only
accept any new annexations on our terms and not attempt to make special
terms for anyone wishing to come into the Village.

The Mayor presented a tentative budget for 1961 for the
councilmen to think about prior to official adoption of 1961
budget. It was general feeling of all coumcilmen that a Village
` should be appointed and that funds for the position
should be included in the budget for 1961.

W It was unanimously agreed that the 1960 "eal Estate taxes
M on the river front property of Dr. V. M. Johnson and Lillian M.
W death located outside the Country Club Community, be waived since it
0_ was not the original intent that these preoperties be taken into the
CZS Village. Council further agreed that these two property owners should
be given opportunity to have their properties remain in Village and
be taxed or if they do not wish to do so, an ordinance taking their
property out of the Village should be officially adopted.
0 A request from owmers of Dairy Queen store to obtain license
m for truck route in Village was denied.
Due to the recent death in an accident at US #1 axl 'Tequesta
L rive, council unanimously requested that a letter be sent to the
Florida State Road Department urging immediate establishment of a
45 MPH zone on route #1 through the Village of Tequesta.
Ordinance #36, amending Section 6 of Ordinance No. 10 was
read and unanimously adopted on first reading.
Ordinance No. 37 regulating the location of clothes lines
within the Village of 'equesta was read and unanimously adopted
on first rading.
Council unanimously agreed that the sum of $500.00 be placed
in 1961 Budget for Jupiter Volunteer Fire 'epartment.
Mayor and clerk are to see about getting maps showing new
house numbering for Country Club Community.
® Council unanimously approved the purchase and construction
of three (3) official glass enclosed bulletin boards to be erected
in appropriate locations in the Village to be used for posting of
all official matters relating to the Village.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 11:45 A. M.
