VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
At 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 10, 1961, the regular
monthly meeting of the Councilmen of the Village of `equesta was
held at the village Office in Village Square Shopping Center,
Tequesta, Florida.
Councilmen present were.--,.Walter F. Lathrop, Cecil
Cornelius, Robert Valier and Thomas n, Daly.
Others present were; Robert Hasp, Clerk, Commissioner
J. R. Sutton, Jr., Wil iam A. Lord, Village Attorny, Irvin
Schlusemeyer, Neil DuBois, Hal Corwin and Rev. H. J. Braden.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved*

a Mr. DuBois spoke to council concerning property owned
by Lillina M. Heath located at corner of Tequesta Dr. and Sevilla
�w Road which the Presbyterian Church is interested in purchasing for
0 a church site. He stated that Mrs. Heath would like Village to
give her 15 feet off right of way on Tequesta Dr. and 20 feet off-
right of way of Sevilla Road. After a.lenghty discussion and a
W general feeling that this was a basic problem for the county,
cn Mr. Cornelius moved, seconded by Mr. Lathrop that if Palm beach
County approves of reducing right of way of �equesta Dr. adjoining
W Heath property by 15 feet and Sevilla Road by 20 feet and if ease -
(L ment is given by county to Jupiter Utility Co. Inc, for water mains
Cd now in the ground and provided that the foregoing reductions in
road rights of way will not adversely affect approaches and plans
for_,the proposed concrete bridge, the council should give approval

to this requests. Motion was unanimously approved.

m Mr. Schlusemeyer again spoke concerning the proposed
Village Hall site and shopping area. Mr. Corwin, speaking for
the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, suggested that a fence
or living hedge be installed between the church property and the
shopping area, if approved, so tht rear of shopping area would not
be seen from church grounds. Mr. Schlusemeyer that that this could
be handled to the satisfation of all concerned. The Mayor reported
that he had had some adverse comment from residents from residents
of Jupiter in the Pines on this project and therefore called a
Zoning Meeting to be attended by all interested parties for
Tuesday, Januray 17, 1961 at 8;00 P.M. at the Church of Good
Shepherd, Seabrook Road. Mayor and Clerk were authorized by council
to approve proposed plat if. meeting showed that it would be accept -
able to all parties concerned•
It was moved and unanimously agreed to pay for new police
car'from Cigarette Tax Fund as shown on December 1960 financial
statement.
Treasurer's report for period ended December 31, 1960
showing balance of $4,054.71 in General Fund and $828.57 in
Cigarette lax Fund was read and approved*
Robert Harp was appointed Village Manager effective
O � January 1, 1961 at annual salary of $4,000.00 per year, which
amount is to be included in 1961 budget.
Attorney Lord is to draw up proposed charter changes;

and Mayor will call meeting of Charter Committee to approve changes
for submission to state legislature for legislative action
Mr. Cornelius moved, seconded by Mr. Valier, that the Mayor
re- negotiate with Mr. George Simons for zoning of Village at cost
not to exceed $1,500 and such amount is to be so budgeted for 1961.
Motion was unanimously approved.
Attorney Lord was asked to prepare ordinances providing for
concealment of outside gas tanks and air conditioning units, and
ordinance regulating storage of boats, boat trailers and accessories
on individuals property.
Mayor was advised to contact county and state road departments .
regarding solution to entrance problems at US # and `Tequesta Drive.
It was general feeling of council that present.entrance is not,
adequate and that immediate action should be taken to alleviate
present conditions.
An expenditure of $50.00 was approved for additional planting
of island at entrance at US #1 and Tequesta Drive.
At rec,uest of Jupiter V61unteer Fire Department, Mayo3b Lathrop
signed proclamation designating February 11 to February 18, 1961 as
FIRE PREVENTION WEEK.
Commissioner Sutton was asked to study parking problem in
Village Square Shopping Center especially with opening of new bowling
lanes to be kept in mind.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 11 ;05.A.M.
