The meeting was opened at 8;00 P.M. By Mayor Lathrop. Present were; Mr. Lathrop and Mr. Harp, Mayor and Clerk of the Village, Mr. Irving Schlusemeyer, representing developer of Jupiter in the Pines, Mrs. Vernon Birong and son, Rodney, Mr. Robert Bondi, Mr.and Mrs. Charles Bates and Mr. George Schlusemeyer. The mayor presented the situation, and stated that the pro - posal went beyond the plat of the proposed re- subdivision as shown to all present, in that the Village, by acceptance of the plat, would thereby authorize a strip 300 feet wide on north side of Tequesta Drive extending eastward from east boundary of Jupiter Utility Co., Inc. to west right of way line of Florida East Coast Railroad to be zoned for light business.purposes. The only serious objection to the proposal was from Mr. and Mrs. mates who had recently purchased a house on souht side of Tequesta Drive almost directly opposite the proposed center and Village hall site. Mr. Irving Schlusemeyer stated that they, as developers, had a tremendous financial interest in the area and would not do anything they thought would be detrimental to the area or ruin the appearance of the area. Thd Church of the Good Shepherd was advised that and adequate type of wall or hedge would be provided so that rear of shopping area would be screened from view from the church property, Conforming to the minutes of the previous Council meeting, the proposed plat of the re- subdivision was signed by the Mayor and Clerk, accepting it for the Village of Tequesta.
