COUNC nM OF THE VILLAGE OF TEWESTA, FLORIDA
At 9:30 A.M. Tuesday,, August 8, 1961, the Regular Monthly Meeting of
the Councilmen of the Village of Tequesta was held at the Tequesta Country,
Club, Tequesta, Florida.
Councilmen present were: Cecil Cornelius, Wilson C. Hicks, Robert
Vanier, J. % Kurtz and Walter F. Lathrop.. Albo,present were Robert Harp,
Village Manager and William A Lord, Village Attorney. Also present were
George W. Simons, Jr. and Mr, Dake,
Mte Simons spoke to the Council about the tentative zoning ordinance
and zoning map which he had prepared for the Council. He. outlined _procedures
necessary for adoption of final ordinance and map and advised that he would
meet with Mr. Valier's Zoning Committee on Thursday August 17., 1961 to
make.any necessary changes in both map and ordinance prior to a public hearing
An the proposed zoning. Following Mr., Simonst remarks, Mr. Lathrop,moved,,
seconded by Mr. Valier,,that the Village Attorney take action to annex
parcels of land which are not past of the Village but are 'surrounded by
Village property. Railroad Right of Way through the Village is to be included
in this annexation proesdure
Mrs Simons suggested that the Village Council should adopt rules and
regulations for new developments and developers so that the Village earn be
assured that new.developments and annexations will meet specifications as
set out by the Council. He suggested that primary road right of way sbeuld
be 80 -200 feet with at least 40 feet paved, and secondary rgad right of way
should be 60 feet with at least 24 feet paved
The Village Manager was instructed to check with the County Zoning
Director, Mr, Bernard Munsey, to see what zoning the County had placed on
lands north of the Village limits to Martin County Line and request that
the .county give these lands their highest residential zoning classification
to afford some degree of protection for good development of this area,
A letter from Mr Irving Schlusemsyer concerning the N.E. Corner of
Tequesta Drive at Seabrook Road to be developed as a Shgpping Center was
read,'J11 Councilmen present stated they were under the itnpressior that
Mr. Schlusemeyer had proposed the site for one shopping* center quite sixdlar
to the one presently being used on the south side of Tequesta Drive and
not as individual lots.
Attorney Lord is to investigate the bast method for c�ptrolling use
of go —karts on the streets of the Village. Councilmen were in agreement
that they constitute a very serious traffic hazard and should be strictly
cont rolled
Upon motion by Mr. Valier, seconded by Mr, Hicke the sub} Qf $104,00
was approved for donation to the Animal Rescue League,
Upon motion by Mr. Valier, seconded by Mr. Lathrop, a. replutidon was
passed establishing and organizing a Municipal Civil Defenee goun cil for
the Village of Tequesta consisting of the Councilmen oi the Vftuge.

The Mayor advised that County Engineer, Middleton advised h3ffi provisions
had been made in the county budget for construction of a new bridge across
the Loxahatchee River to replace the present Hooley Point tr,i dge and that
plans are now being prepared.
A discussion was held concerning the general appearance of the
Oblaczy-nski property, including the fence now under construction. The
Village Manager was'nstructed to write a letter and see that permit for
construction of fence is secured,
Attorney Lord is to prepare an Ordinance providing for clearing of
lots by Village at ownerts expense if they do not keep their- lots mowed
and cleared.
The Village Manager is to ,get an estimate of cost of mowing shoulders
of Village streets and to proceed with work if cost is teasonablip,
Treasurerla report for July 196 showing a balance of $2,861.64 in
the. General' Fund and_ 8,80' 7,g5 in the Beautification Fund was apparovedi

RESOLUTION #
A RESOLUTION OF THE C I T Y COMMISSION OF THE 1 *IX OF
FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING AND ORGANIZING A MUNICIPAL CIVIL DEFENSE
COUNCIL FOR SUCH CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 26875, GENERAL LAWS
OF FLORIDA, ACTS OF 1951.
WHEREAS, it has been found and determined by the City Commission
of the C i t y of J , - - <; , � , F l o r i d a , that p u b l i c welfare and
necessity demand that a local organization fer civil defense be
formed; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 26875 General Laws of Florida, Acts of 1951,
authorizes the governing body of municipalities in the State of
Florida to constitute themselves as a local civil defense council;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE OF FLORIDA:

Section 1. There is hereby authorized and established a civil
defense council for the City of said council
shall be known as the Z C V:L DEFENSE COUNCIL and
its membership shall be composed of the members of the City Commiss-
ion of such city.
Section 2. The said r,. CIVIL DEFENSE COUNCIL
Shall be and is hereby empowered to do all such things as it &.hall
deem necessary to the promotion of civil defense in said city and
which are authorized by Chapter 26875, General Laws of Florida,
Acts of 1951, with regard to municipal civil defense councils.

to the dver;.611 supervision and direction of such council.
