Mayor and Council,
As many of you are aware Light Emitting Diodes (LED) is the
wave of the future with regard to energy savings, longevity and
making office buildings "GREEN". Electrical Systems Inc.
has been involved with this installation for a number of months
since the new LED fluorescent lamps have received the ETL
listing and are now accepted throughout Palm Beach County.
While the initial retrofit is costly, the return on investment,
ROI, is quick resulting in considerable saving to the end user.
It avoids continual ballast and lamp replacement and reduces
the heat load resulting in additional savings by cutting down
on air conditioning costs.
Attached you will find the projected cost to the Village if this
installation were done in Tequesta's buildings. The figures you
see are based on the Village Hall, Public Safety, Recreational,
Public Works and Water Plant buildings.
While the calculations were done by ESI, Electrical Systems
would not perform the installation due to a conflict of interest
as I am on Council. It is my honest opinion that the Village
would be well advised to consider this installation as the ROI
speaks for itself. The Village many times is the first
organization to think outside the box.
While the funds are "not" in our current budget this may be
an area where our reserves are put to good use.
