Weinand, Dir. of Community Dev./Fire C' Date: May 2, 2011 Subject: Consideration for funds adding additional bu' ing inspection services As you are aware the Community Development Department is currently on a three-week processing time for plan reviews for permit. Buck Evans and I have had several brainstorm meetings and have even tried to ship some of the plans out to another reviewer. We concluded that the only way to reduce the turnaround time for issuing permits is to get some inspector assistance for Buck. This will afford him the ability to stay in the office longer to accomplish the plan reviews and be available to answer homeowner's and contractor's questions, in person, thus providing better customer service for our residents needs. This will be on an as needed basis, if the workload decreases the inspectors hours will decrease accordingly. Buck feels that an additional twenty hours of inspection help per week will fix that current problem. The maximum weekly rate for the additional inspector would be $1200.00. I'm requesting funding for this increased inspection services for eight weeks. On an optimistic note, the increased construction activity is having a positive effect on the Departments revenues. As of April 14 we have already collected 86.90 ($186,747.61) of the anticipated $215,000.00 in building permit fees. This request is for Council's consideration to appropriate $9,600.00 to add additional inspection services and assist in reducing the plan review processing time. m:administration doeumentsvilla manageragenda ilem inerease in inspeclion iunding 4292011.doc RESOLUTION 04-11 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, APPROPRIATING FUND BALANCE AND INCREASING THE GENERAL FUND 2010-2011 BUDGET BY $9,600.00 AND PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR INCREASED BUILDING INSPECTION SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
