To: Mayor, Vice Mayor and Village Council
Michael Couzzo, Village Manager
From: David McGovern, Firefighter/Paramedic
Date: August 23, 2011
Subject: Co-sponsor of Tequesta Fire Outreach Project
The Tequesta Fire Fighters and Tequesta Brewing Company are planning a Chili Cook-off and
beer-tasting event to raise funds for two Non—profit organizations. Seventy-Five (75%) of the
funds raised will go to a foundation called Honor Flight. Honor Flight raises funds to send World
War II Veterans to Washington DC, to tour the WWII memorial at no cost to the Veterans.
Twenty-Five (25%) of the funds raised will be given to the Friends of Public Safety to be used to
continue the construction of the memorial project and provide support to the public safety
personnel in time of need. The Event will take place on November 12 2011 from 2pm to 6pm
outside of Tequesta Brewing Company.
On the day of the event we request the ability of the on duty crew to assist with the setup and
breakdown of the event. We would like to utilize the Aerial truck by extending the boom and
draping an American Flag from it to honor all of our fallen heroes. All Firefighters working the
event will be off duty. On duty personnel maybe needed to assist in some of the planning,
along with answering questions to the citizens of Tequesta on event details. None of the above
requests will interfere with the operations of the department.
In order for this event not to be considered an ethics violation we are asking the Village of
Tequesta to be a co-sponsor of this event.
