Box 3273 Tequesta, FL 33402 SUBJECT: INTERSECTION OF TEQUESTA DRIVE AND COUNTRY CLUB DRIVE Dear Captain Roderick: On May 3, 1988, Chief Flannery requested that the intersection of Tequesta Drive and Country Club Drive be reviewed and studied due to confusion on the part of motorists at this intersection. Our office has conducted studies which have indicated that the volume of traffic does not meet warrants for signalization of the intersection or a multiway stop condition. Additional studies conducted indicated low vehicle delay times. Therefore, this office cannot recommend signalization of this intersection. However, we do recommend the following: 1. The north approach stop condition be relocated to provide optimum sight distance for drivers turning east and west onto Tequesta Drive from Country Club Drive. 2. Additional signage be installed to illuminate the north approach stop condition and geometric conditions of the intersection. 3. Removal of the west approach stop condition which is creating confusing at this intersection. Attached are copies of the studies conducted by our office and a sketch showing our signage recommendations. Sincerely, _. Walker : For many years the intersection of Tequesta llrive and Country Club Drive has been a problem. It is a two (2) stop sign intersection with south-bound Country Club Drive and east-bound Tequesta Drive being required to stop. West-bound Tequesta Drive is not required to stop and this traffic Either proceeds west, into a residential area, or turns north onto Country Club Drive. The confusion begins when people do not use their turn signals while turning north onto Country Club Drive. r•lany people who are stopped facing south either believe that west-bour_d traffic stops, or they pull into the path of west-bound traffic, believing that the people will turn north. On numerous occasions we have placed a patrol veliicle in the area to warn those that c�o not signal and alsa to warn or cite other inc�ividuals who do not yield the right of way. So far this practice has not been successful and we are in need of your help. A�embers of your staff have been lzere in the past, but for whatever reasons the situation has remained the sam�. If you would be so kind as to have your staff ta�:e a fresh look at the problem and ?-_Zake formal recommendations it would be appreciated.
