Couzzo, Jr., Village Manager Honorable Mayor and Village Council Members FROM: Lori McWilliams, Village Clerk DATE: October 3, 2011 SUBJECT: Village Historic Preservation Committee Vacancy Appointment With the resignation this past March of Patricia Marie from the Historic Committee, there has been a long standing vacancy in Mayor Paterno's appointment. Bob Jacks was recommended to Mayor Paterno by another member of the Historic Board and Mr. Jacks has voiced his interest in serving. Mr. Jacks had a long-term relationship with Charter member Alice Klimas who recently passed and should bring a great deal of knowledge to the Committee. While the committee has not been very active over the past year, I look forward to having a full complement of inembers. Previously, during Alice's term, the Committee had many successes including: • Shelving placed in windows at Village Hall entrance with historical memorabilia • A comprehensive list of long time residents (25+ years of residency) and noteworthy business contacts was compiled • Display molding painted, cut and placed on walls • A"Memory Lane" of special events was placed on the wall leading up to the utility department • Historical name plaques of past Mayors, Vice-Mayors and Council Members placed in Chambers As your Clerk, you know I feel strongly about maintenance and archival of historical memorabilia and artifacts. While it may appear the committee is moving slowly, the committee is actually moving along nicely due to the nature of the projects we have completed. I, along with the members, thank you for your support, and we look forward to further preserving Tequesta's history.
