TEQUESTA MEMORIAL FACT SHEET
The center main monuxnent is 6' 10" ta11 and 6' long at the base. The rounded top highlights
the village's Indian logo, which will be cast in bronze in a 2 to 3" bas relief. Along with the
town logo, title and dedication phrase, this monument can accommodate up to 128 names.
A half inch deep recess near the bottom of the tablet and a sub base help to give the memorial
height and character. All surFaces except the base are to be polished.
The wings are for inscriptions only, and are 8'6" long and stand a total4'2" high. The top of
the stone is beveled to fit more inscriptions, and was designed that way to keep the height of the
wings from over towering the central monument. The change in height will prevent a feeling of
being "walled in" while viewing inscriptions up close.
These tablets are set on three smaller sub-bases, then onto the main base which is 8' 10". An
area of open space is left between ta.blets to make them more interesting and create a clean
cotemporary look. The unpolished panel areas a11ow for clean, readable inscriptions however
small they may be.
Each wing has the potential of accommodating 360 names. The tota.l number of names for two
wings and the central monument is around 848. With the addition of three more wings in the
future this would allow for 1080 more names.
This memorial was designed around a 20' round walkway with paths leading from the Public
Safety Building to City Hall. Landscaping would be in an area of 35'- 40' in diameter to
complement the overall appearance. In the center of the circle I propose two semicircular benches
made of solid concrete 18" to 20" high as depicted in the plan. T'he benches could be made of
granite but this is not necessary.
Many hours of planning have gone into the preparation of this memorial concept. The
designing of granite memorials is a unique occupation. I have 25 years experience in
the monument industry. I am a third generation stone cutter. I have also taken many classes
on design. I pride myself on the reputation I have earned through out the years.
Therefore, as experience has taught me, I would like it understood that these designs are
the property of Lake Worth Monument, Co. If the Village of Tequesta should decide to have
my drawings put out to bid, a design fee of $900.00 will be charged, and the designs will
become the property of the Village. In which case specs for the monument will be supplied
to ensure the quotes will be appropriately prepared. If Lake Worth Monument is contracted
for the project, the design fee will be deducted fronn the price of the monument.
The cost of the memorial is as follows:
For the granite monument, lettering (not inclusive of individual names), sandblast work and
setting onto prepared site is $30,190.00
The sculpting and foundry work for the Village Indian Logo is 2600.00
 Total $32,790.00
This proposal does not include site preparation, landscaping, foundations, concrete work,
crane (needed for installation, the price range is based on reach, weight, conditions and luck) from
$500.00 - $1,500.00
Future inscriptions of the individual names will be set on an interim based on demand. The
details will be worked out between Lake Worth Monument and whomever the Village has
chosen to act as the go-between. Mistakes can not be patched or erased, so the Village will
be provided with proofs prior to inscriptions for final sign-off.
Inscriptions will cost $33.50 each. A minimum txip charge of 6 inscriptions, or $200.00, per trip
will be charged.
