The Martin County Commission meeting is on Oct 6 so t believe there is sufficient time to hold a special meeting if that is the will of the Council. To move expeditiously, if there is going to be a meeting, I would suggest Monday late afternoon, 10/3. Earlier in the day would also work. If it is the will of the Council, a Resotution setting forth the Village's concems could be delivered to the Martin County Commissioners on Tuesday. I will wait to hear from Michae{ on the Council's decision on whether to hotd a meeting. Given anticipated traffic impacts from the praposed rezoning, a Resolution is probably warranted. Michael and I did discuss a possible letter on Monday and heemphasized the importance of checking with you and moving fortwith in preparation of a letter and getting your input.. He suggested I cantact you to find out more information about the project and your concerns. I tried to reach you Monday aftemoon by phone to discuss your concerns. (Although{ Mike left town on Monday afternoon to attend the local government-ethics conference in Jax, we have been in constant cammunication about this and other matters. I do not think he had received your email.) On Tuesday 1 received information from Mike's office that he had obtained from Martin County regarding the proposed zoning change. I reviewed the information with a view to preparinga letter setting forth the Village's concems per his request. (1 understand that the information Mike obtained and sent to me was likewise distributed to you and everyone on the Council at the same time.) As an altemative to a letter, we then started discussing the value of a Resolution and he suggested I try to reach you again to seek " your views. I followed up with my email as Mike suggested. That is the sequence and timing. Again, thanks for getting back. I assume I will hear something today from Mike or Gwen regarding a special meeting. If one is held, proper notice will need to be issued. . f am sending a cc #o Bob with Mike's approval to ensure staff is aware of the possibility of a meeting. sgh From: Ggenco@aol.com {mailto:Ggenco@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, September 29, 2005 11:14 PM To: Scott Hawkins; gcarlisle@tequesta.org Cc: mcouzzo@tequesta.org; JRH33469@aof.com; Ggenco@aol.com; PWatkins@NCPflorida.com; Edward Resnik; TPatemo@bellsouth.net Subject: Fwd: Martin County; Island Way; proposed change in zoning Thank you Scott, I appreciate your follow-up. I sent an e-mait to Michael after receipt of your call this past Monday. I've been waiting to hear ftom him to find out the status of the letter he stated he woutd write to Martin County for information on the project(s). He never told me you atready had information on the praposed projects (which I requested for all us on the Council) nor did he respond with regard to my inquiry as to why you called rather than him writing the letter as agreed. 9/30/2005 9 4 I am out of town and hoped to get the information for Councii as I realized Martin County would probably hear the development request prior to our January mestin with Marcus and the Martin County Commission. Now that t have your e-ma+t I anderstand time is criticat artd wish Michael had told me yau already had information and were preparing comments as I taiked to him just before I left. Since the Council has expressed great interest in pubiic forum in development in this area it is my feeling that we att shou4d have the opportunity to review and comment. 1 agree with your advice abaut a Resolution as it generatly has greater influence, especially when accompanied by a cover letter from (egal Counsel. 1 am familiar with a lot of the impact issues as the Loxahatchee River Coordinating Council had interest in #his area, although it fell outside of our area of jurisdic6on. If Jim is still out of town and another Council member feels the same I believe we can request a Special Meeting but regardless, we should all be copied on at least the basic application. i91 leave that to you and Gwen to coordinate as welt as to find out if another member feels the topic is worthy of a meeting (1 copied her • and the Councit on your memo and this note). I'd appreciate an e-mail response as to the information and the meeting. { am still in a hearing tomorrow and hope to speak to you Monday Thanks, I look forvvard to hearing from you.
