Parks and Recreation Department
To: Michael R. Couzza, Jr., Viilage Manager
Fram: Greg Corbitt, Director of Parks & Recreation
Date: June 23, 2005
Subject: Village Council Agenda Item for July 2005; Consideration
To Repair Court & Field Lighting at Tequesta Park
Please find attached the cost estimate from Musco Lighting & Arlington Electric to repair
the Lighting at Tequesta. Pazk, a quote from William Murphy, General Contractor to
enclose electrical area at Tequesta Park.
I recommend that we contract with Musco Lighting to install the lighting at Tequesta
Park Ball Field and Basketball Courts. Also, I recommend the control and monitoring
system at a total cost $84,032.00.
• The lighting Cost: $76,032.00
• The Control Link Monitoring System: $8,000(SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE A) .
The monitoring system affords us the opportunity to schedule and control by the user and
usage of the facilities. In addition, the Control Link provides remote diagnostics that will
identify problems, which will trigger action on the part of Musca Lighting to send a
maintenance person to correct the situation. Except in the case of fuse replacements. This
is all covered in the $8,000 one-time 10-year charge. This option can be renewed after 10
yeazs. The monitoring system provides us with fingertip control from any location ofice,
field, home, phone and computer.
Secondly, I recommend we contract with Arlington Electric to repair/replace the lighting
for the tennis courts at a cost of $30,0$8.00,
Finally, the Power Source for all Facility Lighting at Tequesta Park is currently enclosed
by a chain link fence, which can be accessed by individuals using the facilities. Currently,
children climb the fence and can readily manipulate the controls of the power usage —
ON/OFF. This is a potential safety hazard.
• Climbing the fence
• Manipulating the switches of the power source
I recommend we contract with William Murphy, General Contractor to enclose the
electrical area at Tequesta Park at a cost of $24,300.00.
Summary:
l. Musco Lighting $84,032.00
2. Arlington Electric $30,088.00
3. Additional Wiring $10,000.00
4. Enclosure $24,300.00
TOTAI.: $148,420.00
Please place this item on the July 2005 Village Council agenda for Council member's
consideration.
Please feel free to conta.ct shauld you have any questions or concerns relative to this item.
