RESCUE 5
Tequesta Fire-Rescue has recently taken delivery of a new Rescue Ambulance.
The vehicle is a Freightliner M-2 chassis, with the ambulance customization
completed by American LaFrance MedicMaster in Sanford, Fiorida. The chassis
is upgraded from the smaller Ford chassis on the previous ambulances. This
larger chassis allows more equipment to be carried, such as first response dive
rescue equipment, additional firefighting equipment and new medical treatment .
devices. The additional equipment on the vehicle improves the response
capabilities to the residents and safety of the firefighters.
Other features of the new Rescue consist of high-power LED lighting that provide
increased visibility with lower power consumption, an engine compression
retarding system that increases stopping ability and extends brake life, and an
LCD display control panel to operate the various systems and warning devices
as weli as to display a rear-view camera when operating the vehicle in reverse.
The vehicle has a tighter turning radius than the previous ambulances, allowing it
to maneuver in smaller areas, as well as an air-ride rear suspension for
increased patient comfort during transports. Also included in this vehicle is an
auxiliary air conditioning system to maintain temperature cantrol of the numerous
medications carried on the unit, which improves their shelf life and efficacy.
Greater patient care and comfort, the abifity to carry additionat rescue and
firefighting equipment and increased firefighter safety make this Rescue
Ambulance an excellent choice for the Village of Tequesta.
