Allison, Chief of Police ;�� Subject: Used Police Car Values Date: February 11, 2005 1 have attempted to find a fair market value for our surplus police vehicles. Since the vehicles are titled as police cars, the values listed in the NADA book and Kelfey Blue Book are not valid. I spoke to a broker who buys old fleet cars. He said the `rule of thumb' he follows when bidding on otd fleet vehicles is fifty percent of wholesale value. He estimated that the 1994 vehicle is worth $500.00 -$1000.00 and the 1999 vehicles are worth $1,000.00 -$2,000.00 based on condition. The West Palm Beach Auto Auction gave the same value estimate, again based on condition of the vehicles. Listed below is a summary of Kelley Blue Book values for vehicles in fair condition. (They do not provide quotes for vehicles rated poor.)
