With the idulgenee a m coileagues on the iilage Ccuneil,
and in the spirit of the coming holiday season, I would like to
take a moment to reflect on the events of the past year and
express my sincere thanks to so many----
whase effvrts have contriuted towards making the Village of
Tequesta the best place to live and raise a family.
We are so blessed to Iive in these beautiful surrounding and so
fortunate to live in a community whose residents are both our
neighbors and friends. The Village has made significant strides
in recent years, building on the strong foundation inherited
from previous Village leaders and residents. The commitment
to and pride in our community over the years has made
Tequesta the "Village" it is today.
The spirit of community and fellowship could not have been
more beautifully displayed, than during our recent experiences
with Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. It was so heart warming
to work with my colleagues on the council, our manager, our
staff and so many citizens, who gave so tirelessly of their time
and talents to ensure that everything that could be done, was
being done to help our residents and our town. While many
residents experienced considerable discomfort as a result of
electrical power outages and shortage of food and gasoiine,
their spirits always remained high and optimistic. I would like
to take this opportunity to formally and publicly thank all of
the members of the council for their considerable efforts and
hard work during both hurricanes and for their countless
hours of selfless dedication and devotion to our Village.
We are living in a very exciting and prosperous time for the
Village. VVhile fiscal conservancy is of utmost importance to
your council members, we are seeing many projects coming to
fruition and even more on the horizon.

We have been awarded $430,000 from South Florida Water
Management Board to expand our RIO facility (ranked S
overall of all submittals, ranked 2 financially overall) We
have been awarded $530,000 overall in the past two years. The
Village, through the expansion of our R/O facility, will reduce
its dependency on outside sources and demands on surficial
wells. This expansion will reduce long-term operational costs
and insure the Village's ability to provide essential water to
our residents and customers in the future. Our water plant has
received many awards for excellence and we should be very
grateful that previous council members had the foresight to
develop our own water plant.
We will be starting construction on the new Village Hail in the
near future, which will not only be a wonderful asset ta the
community but will also save us the monthly rent on our
current offices.
We have been fortunate enough to receive grant money also for
the renovation of Constitution Park and for a project to
beautify the intersection of ld Dixie and Tequesta Dr. These
additions will make our village even more attractive.
Our parks and recreatian department has expanded its
programs and activities and our internet site has been greatly
improved and brought up to date. I invite you to visit it often
to keep up with the news in our town.
The new Publi will be coming on line as will the new CVS
pharmacy.
We are anneging new properties into the Village and will work
toward additional annexations in the future.
We are working toward clearing the debris from Tequesta
Park, which was badly damaged during the storms. Once
again, as a testanent to the caring of our residents, many have
expressed a sincere desire to help with this effort.
As I think a.bout the many reasons to be thankful this holiday
season, one of my favorites is to think about how fortunate we
al are to live in Tequesta, vvhich has such a rieh past, an
exciting present and a prosperous future.
I wish all of you a very Happy Thanlsgiving and thank you for
giving me the opportunity to serve as a council member and
now as mayor of the Village of Tequesta, our home.
