The Tequesta Fire Fighters are planning the second Chili Cook-off and beer-tasting event to raise funds for two
not-for—profit organizations. Seventy-Five (75%) of the funds raised will go to a foundation called Honor
Flight. Honor Flight raises funds to send World War II Veterans to Washington DC, to tour the WWII memorial
at no cost to the Veterans. Twenty-Five (25%) of the funds raised will be given to the Friends of Public Safety
to be used to continue the construction of the memorial project and provide support to the public safety
personnel in time of need. In order for this event not to be considered an ethics violation, we are asking the
Village of Tequesta to be a co-sponsor of this event.

Subject: Co-sponsor of Tequesta ' Outreach Project
The Tequesta Fire Fighters are planning the second Chili Cook-off and beer-tasting event to
raise funds for two not-for—profit organizations. Seventy-Five (75°/a) of the funds raised will go
to a foundation called Honor Flight. Honor Flight raises funds to send World War II Veterans to
Washington DC, to tour the WWII memorial at no cost to the Veterans. Twenty-Five (25%) of
the funds raised will be given to the Friends of Public Safety to be used to continue the
construction of the memorial project and provide support to the public safety personnel in time
of need. Last year we raised nearly $9,000.00 for Honor Flight and $2,000.00 for F.O.P.S.
The event is being planned for November 10, 2012 from 2pm to 6pm at Paradise Park. We will
be bringing in a stage for live entertainment, 8 to 10 port-a-potties, tables and chairs for
approximately 250 people, dumpsters, 31 10x10 folding tents for Chili teams and corporate
sponsors and will be hiring as many Police Offices as the Police Chief feels is appropriate.
On the day of the event we request the ability of the on duty crew to assist with the setup and
breakdown of the event. We would like to utilize the Aerial truck by extending the boom and
draping an American Flag from in it to honor of all our fallen heroes. All Firefighters working the
event will be off duty. On duty personnel may be needed to assist in some of the pianning,
along with answering questions to the citizens of Tequesta on event details. None of the above
requests will interfere with the operations of the department.
In order for this event not to be considered an ethics violation we are asking the Village of
Tequesta to be a co-sponsor of this event.
