VOLUME 13, NUMBER 5 MAY 2000
COUNTRY CLUB DRIVE STREETSCAPE
IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY
On April 13, 2000, the Village Council approved Bid Award to Rood Landscape, Inc.,
Tequesta, FL, for the Country Club Drive Streetscape Improvements in the amount
of $92,281. Rood Landscape was the low bidder from a total of five bids received. The
Village Council allocated $130,000 forthis work in the FY 2000 Capital Improvement
Budget. This Bid Award represents Phase II of the three-phased Country Club Drive
Streetscape Improvements Plan. Phase II right-of-way improvements will extend
along both sides of Country Club Drive from Bimini Road to Tequesta Drive.
Stephen Parker, Parker-Yannette Design Crroup, Jupiter, FL, prepared the Country
Club Drive Streetscape Improvements Plan and, subsequently, received design
approval from the Village Council, Public Works Committee, Gommunity Appearance
Board, and citizen groups from the Tequesta Country Club Community. The intent of
the Streetscape Improvements is to enhance the appearance and residential nature of
the Tequesta Country Club Community area and to serve as a traffic calming measure
to help reduce speeding on Country Club Drive. The scope ofwork entails the planting
of 56 Live Oak trees, 9 Cabbage Palms, 1 S Queen Palms, 4 Royal Poincianas, a
complete irrigation system, swale construction, and Floratarn sod.
The contract requires Rood Landscape to install an irrigation "bubbler" for each new
tree planted, to monitor the growing conditions and general health of all landscape
material and sod, and to provide corrective actions to prevent pest infestation, disease,
etc., if necessary. The Phase II work started on May l, 2000, and is on schedule to be
completed within 30 days. The final phase, Phase III, is tentatively scheduled to begin on
or about May l, 2001, and complete the final link from Tequesta Circle to Bimini Road.
As always, with construction comes some inconvenience. We ask your indulgence,
patience, and cooperation during this time. Should you have any questions concerning
this Project, please contact Gary Preston, Director of Public Works, at 575-6240.
PREVENT AUTO THEFT

Tequesta residents who own vehicles that are among the top ten reported vehicles
stolen in Palm Beach County. The devices, called "The Club," will be given on a first-

number of stolen vehicles.
The top ten most frequently stolen vehicles are: Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Dodge
Caravan, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevy Caprice, Saturn, Plymouth Voyager, Chrysler
LeBaron, Ford Mustang, and Jeep Cherokee.
