HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Historic_06/29/2012 VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 2012 Call to Order and Roll Call The Village of Tequesta Historic Preservation Committee held a regularly scheduled meeting at the Tequesta Village Hall, 345 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, on Tuesday, July 19, 2012. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chair Bethany Humpage. Present were Bethany Humpage, Dottie CampbeU, Lee Resnik, Pauline Hutchinson and Bob Jacks. Also in attendance were Village Clerk Lori McWilliams and Recording Secretary Betty Laur. Approval of Agenda MOTION: Board Member Campbell made a motion to approve the agenda as submitted. Board Member Jacks seconded the motion, which carried unanimously 5-0. 1. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes MOTION: Board Member Campbell moved approval of the December 9, 2011 minutes as submitted. Board Member Hutchinson seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous 5-0 vote. 2. Florida Turning 500 Village Cferk McWilliams explained Florida League of Cities was planning a cefebration for the State's 500 birthday with #he cities' participation. An extension of the deadline had been obtained to allow time to write a 50�-word history and upload historical information and photos. An interactive map would be placed on the internet and the historical information provided by each city would pop up when one clicked on the name of the city. Discussion ensued regarding items to include and residents to contact for further information. Consensus of the Committee was to meet the next week to finalize the 500-word history and report on information that was provided by residents. Village Clerk McWilliams asked the Committee to change the items on the glass display shelves in the lobby. 3. Discussion of Shelving needed for Memorabilia Storage Recording Secretary Laur suggested contacting Bill Murphy to construct shelves in the small storage room fio store historical items. She indicated she would research the catalog from Gaylord to see what type of storage was available for files. Historic Preservation Committee Meeting June 29, 2012 Page 2 MOTION: Board Member Hutchinson moved that Recording Secretary Laur contact William Murphy to obtain a quote to construct storage shelves. Board Member Jacks seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous 5-0 vote. 4. Establish Schedule for Committee Members to work on preparing items for Archiving Recording Secretary Laur suggested meeting on a Friday to work. Committee Member Campbell provided several newspaper articles and photos, and related the sfiory of the dolphin that swam with residents in the river. Consensus �f the Committee: ta work on items for archiving at 10 a.m., Friday 13, 2012. 5. Schedule Next Meeting The next meeting was set for July 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. 6. Any Other Matters Consensus of the Committee: To receive meeting agendas and minutes by e-mail in the future. Recording Secretary Laur was to check on the status of Smoke Signals saved for historical purposes, and a map from Mike Crowe.
