MEMORANDUM:
TO: Village Council
FROM: Thomas G. Bradford, Village Manager
DATE: November 10, 1993
SUBJECT: Public Hearinq to Adopt Ordinances Providing
Restrictions Relating to Parking of Trucks and
Recreational Vehicles and Creatinq the Mixed-Use
Zoning District in the Tequesta Center; Aqenda Item
The attached Ordinances are tentatively scheduled for your review
at your Meeting on November 18th and December 2nd. These
Ordinances amend the Tequesta Zoning Ordinance and require a
special public hearing and advertisements in accordance with state
statutes.
The first Ordinance provides for additional restrictions relative
to the parking of trucks and recreational vehicles within the R-lA
Zoning District. This Zoning District encompasses the subdivisions
known as Tequesta Country Club, Bayview Terrace, Shay Place and Bay A
Harbor. All of the homeowner associations within the referenced
subdivisions approve of these amendments. The Tequesta Country
Club Comrnunity Association spearheaded the drive to amend this
Ordinance. This request, and others, were reviewed by the Finance
and Administration Committee on October 20, 1993. The Committee
approved of making this amendment and requested certain staff
actions relative to other requests. The Committee report is also
on your agenda for November 18th.
As for the Ordinance establishing the Mixed-Use District, this is
the culmination of a great deal of work by Village staff,
particularly Scott Ladd and Skip Randolph, to provide.a flexible
zoning district for the Tequesta Downtown area of concern. This
Ordinance was reviewed by the Finance and Administration Committee
on October 20, 1993, and was approved with certain amendments which
have been made to the Ordinance.
It is time to conclude the Zoning-In-Progress for this area. I
believe you will find this Ordinance to be satisfactory. It is
recommended that the Village Council approve adoption of the
referenced ordinances.
