Any Other Matters
Business Openings in April:
See attached listing
Beach Road Association Meeting:
Concern was expressed to Commissioner Hal Valeche and me about increasing illegal
activity, including open fires, boat launching, innapropriate behavior and alcohol
consumption, on the west side of Beach Road. Chief Elg and Cindy DeFilippo are
coordinating with PBSO for a limited j',oint law enforcement effort.
Radio WJTW: '
We have a'/2 hour guest spot with hoSt Kathy Green on the 3` Wednesday of each
month at 3:00 PM. Next show is May 15
Lighthouse ArtCenter:
Executive Director Katie Dietz invites Council to participate and welcome LAC patrons
and guests to the Village of Tequesta. On Sunday May 26 Justin Riney, founder of
Mother Earth- Expedition Florida 500, is launching his paddle board on the Loxahatchee
in Tequesta as part of a year-long joumey to visit the state's coastline, estuaries, rivers,
lakes and wetlands. I've discussed with the Manager having Marine One escort the
paddlers at the launch point. The trip has generated signicant media coverage at its
stops around the State.

state/
Ms. Dietz would like to present a brief update of the Center's current activities and
initiatives at the June Council Meeting. She also offered to have juried artists paint the
bollards in front of the Public Safety Building with an approved theme.
Media Show Production Opportunity:
A representative of Communities of Distinction contacted me about producing a show
for cable N. The group purchases time through cable providers, networks/stations and
other media. Essentially they produce a 5-minute segment showcasing the character,
values, safety, amenities and quality of life — Village owns full rights and licensing. I
previously forwarded talking points. http://watchcod.com/
Youth Advisory Committee:

YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Proposed Summer Intem Project
• Action taken by Council directly affects the next generation of voters.
• Goal is to generate interest in the political process and active involvement within the
community that carries into adulthood.
• Council initiates a program that targets an age group often underserved in the
community.
• Proposed program is presented to high school and local colleges as community service
opportunities and unpaid political science internships.
• No significant cost involved.
Summary outline for consideration:
• Establish Youth Advisory Committee
• Chair selected by Committee members
• Departmental orientation and ethics training sessions required (adequate notice to
department heads)
• Attend Council meetings and existing Boards and Committee meetings
• Appoint one (non-voting) member of the Youth Advisory Committee to be seated on the
dais at existing Board and Committee meetings
• Add a standing Youth Advisory Committee Report to the Regular Council Meeting
Agenda
• Youth Advisory Committee establishes a sub-committee to recruit peers
A quick Google search found that there are several models of cities and towns that have
similar programs.
