Bradford, Village Manager DATE: March 3, 1994 SUBJECT: FDOT Access Management Plan for U.S. One in Tequesta FDOT has drafted its final plans for its Access Management Plan on U.S. One in the Tequesta area. Several changes have been made to the Plan based upon the comments of the public and the decisions of FDOT Variance Committee. These plans are, apparently, final and are being presented to the Village Council as a matter of information and as a courtesy to the governing body of the jurisdiction wherein such a project is proposed. Mr. Edward Yue, Project Manager of FDOT, District 4, assured me on March 2 that FDOT, by decision of Secretary Ben Watts, will provide funding necessary to guarantee landscaping commensurate to the previous expenditures made by Tequesta to beautify this important roadway corridor. Additionally, FDOT is taking the steps necessary to ensure placement of sleeves or pipes to each median at this time so that irrigation and/or other utilities can be provided to the appropriate medians in the future, if needed. Several changes have occurred to the Access Management Plan since the public information meeting was held. These include: . Extension of the turning lane at the intersection of U.S. One and Beach Road. • Re-opening of the crossing at Eyeball Avenue and U.S. One. • Re-opening of Cove Road and U.S. One. Rr P:.;.• 4 MEMO: Viilage Council Page 2— ---------------------- • Closure of opening at Bridge Road and U.S. One. • Extension of stacking lanes at U.S. One and Tequesta Drive for eastbound traffic onto Waterway Road and westbound traffic onto Tequesta Drive. • Closure of opening at Lighthouse Plaza U.S. One access. This also closes southbound U.S. One access. This also closes southbound U.S. One access to the main entrance of Tequesta Shoppes. • Elimination of stacking lane to St. Jude Church. • Extension of stacking lane at County Line Road and U.S. One. I met with Edward Yue, Chris Kafer and John Downs on March 2 to review these plans. They have an engineering explanation pursuant to the access management criteria for the proposed design and any changes made thereto. I am sure they will be happy to answer any and all questions that you or the public may have in this regard. TGB/krb Page is too large to OCR. Page is too large to OCR. Page is too large to OCR.
