Nanative: For years, the Vil(age of Tequesta existed primarily as a retirement community. As is the case in many municipalities throughout Florida, Tequesta has seen a dramatic shift in demographics over the past several years, experiencing a significant influx of working families and young children. With this shift, has come the expected demand for new services to address their needs. One of the single greatest accomplishments in the history of the Village has been to successfully meet those needs through the expansion of the Village's Parks and Recreational Programs. This success is due primarily to the appointment of the Viltage's first ever Parks and Recreation Director, Greg Corbitt. Since his appointment in February of 2002, Greg Corbitt has literally been a one-man show. Just a few of his accomplishments have been the opening of the Tequesta Skate Board Park, the successful Teen Bash Program, the Summer Youth Camp Program, re- developing and improving the existing Tequesta Recreational Center, and the expansion of available Village Recreational Programs. What makes Greg's accomplishments so very deserving of this award was his ability to take a community with a tremendous need and create an environment rich with positive and meaningful programs for everyone. The success of Greg's accomplishments was made evident in a recent news release where he is credited with helping to reduce the incidents of juvenile crime in the Village by thirty eight percent (38%). This reduction, from 2002 to 2003, is amibuted to the many supervised youth programs now being offered. S • ' 'Z.' '' T . ' `. Robert L.
