~~N ORDINANCF. OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA,
FLORIDA, PROHIBITING TILE RUNNING AT LARGE
OF DOGS ~~'ITHIN THE VILLAGE AND PROVIDING
FOR TFff: IriPOUNDING OF DOGS IN VIOLATION
THEREOF AND FOR PUI~ISF~fENT THEREFOR.
~.'iIEREAS, the Village Council deems it to the best interests
of the Village from the standpoint of safety, sanitation and welfare
to limit the running at large of dogs within the Village;
1~Oi~', THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAII~TED BIT THF. VILLAGE CCLTNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. DEFINITIONS. As used in this Ordinance, the
following ~,•ords and phrases sha71. have the meanings indicated:
(1) O~,mer In any prosecution under this Ordinance where
it shal.7. be found that a dog is in the custody or
under the control of a minor, it shall be Presumed
that the os~rner of such dog is the parent or° legal
guardian of such minor.
(2) At Lar~*e shall be intended to mean off the premises
of the o~tiner, unless accompanied by an attendant who
shall. have such dog firmly held by collar and leash,
which leash is not to exceed eight feet in length.
Section 2. RUNNING AT LARGE PROHIBITED
Igo dog shall run at large within the corporate limits of the
Village or ..upon the property other than that of its o~~Tner unless the
dog is running on property other than that of its owner with the express
or implied consent of the owner of the property, and persons allowing
the same shell be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to punish-
ment as provided in Section 5 of this Ordinance.
Section 3, REGISTR~ITION t1ND INOCULATION
(:~.) No person having the care, custod}T or control of any
dog, more t'lan six (6) months old, shall pernlit such dog to be in the
Village unless it has been inoculated against rabies within one (l)

license from the Pa]m Beach County, Florida Animal Contro] Department.
(':~) Dogs shall at a.ll times ~,~ear a tag denoting. currently
effective registration and inoculation data issued by the Palm Beach
County, Florida, t'1z1ir,~al Control Department.

(a.) ?~henever a dog is •,rith~_n the corporate lirii~,;s of the

ordinance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.00 or by

Section 5. PEN;ILTY
