Jensen, P.E., Acting Utilities Director Date: September 6, 2000 Subject: Village Council Agenda Item for September 14, 2000; Consideration To Award General Laboratory Services to Envirodyne, Inc. in the Amount of $22,333.00 Subject to Funds Being Appropriated for FY 2001, Having a Total Proposed FY 2001 Budget Alloca.tion of $28,000 The Village has maintained a contract with Toxikon Corporation of Jupiter, Florida to perform the above services for the Water Treatment Plant. Tlus was a 16-month contract set to expire at the end of this current fiscal year. Due to the expiration of this contract, we entertained proposals from other vendors. The project was publicly advertised in the Palm. Beach Post on Sunday, September 3. We also forwazded proposal documents to five (5) local laboratory that perform this type of work. We received four (4) proposals which are summarized below: Item # Firm Total Base Pro osal 1. Envirodyne $22,333.00 2. Sevem Trent Services (Precision Lab) $22,379.00 3. Harbor Branch Environmental $28,975.00 4. Toxikon Co oration $29,182.40 . 5. U.S. Bios stems Did not submit We have reviewed the qualifications of the firm which tendered the lowest cost, Envirodyne, Inc. in the amount of $22,333.00 and have found them to be an acceptable firm. Note that the term of the contract would be for a period of one (1) year, commencing on October 1, 2000. The contract does have an extension clause for an additional yer if their performance meets with our expectations. For comparison purposes, our contract with Toxikon last year was in the amount of $21,515.60. The proposed budget for FY 00/O1 has $28,000 budgeted for La.b Services. I therefore recommend the Village Council award this project to Envirodyne, Inc. • in the amount of $22,333.00 for FY 00/O1. A Resolution stipulating this award will be forwarded to you for consideration at the September 14, 2000 Council Meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.
