C}n February 22, local charities dedicated. to support our nation's wounded service
members and their families will host the 1 Annual FAMII.IES HELPING
HEROES. The council is alrea.dy familiar with Renewal Coalition, an organization
that provides combat wounded nulitary personnel and their families the
opporhnity to step away from their military hospita.l and rehabilita.tion centers and
come to Florida for a fully paid retreat. Another charity which will benefit from the
event is C.AM.O, an organization that works in conjunction with Renewal
Coalition by rescuing dogs from local shelters and train.i.ng them to be service
companions for combat wounded servicemen with physical and neurological
impairments as well as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Good Shepherd School is
Tequesta's only elementary school and in addition to providing support for this
event, will also use some of the proceeds to establish a Patriot Scholarship for local
military families.
FAMTT.TF HELpING HEROES will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 2-8
at Paradise Park. It will feature over 20 food trucks, live music from our most
popular local bands, the Panther Zone (featuring fun, military themed kid
activities) as well dog and military demonstrations. Sikorsky and the branches of
the military have already committed their support and involvement with the event.
The layout will be sirnilar to the successful Tequesta. Fest: the parking lot will be
used for the food trucks, the field closest to Old Dixie will be designated for the
bands and the sponsor VIP tents. The field closest to CVS will be the Panther
Zone. It will be dedicated to military themed kid's activities. Military vehicles
will line Main Street and CAMO will be bri.nging in recipients and their dogs to
give demonstrations of their amazing trai.ning. Parking will be provide through
local parking lots and a shuttle.
Revenue will be generated though ticket sales, beer, water and soda. sales and
sponsorships. We would li.ke to collaborate with the Village of Tequesta and the
Parks and Recreation and are aware that the presenting charities will be responsible
for securing, fencing, lighting, staging, insurance, permitting, parking, etc
