SUBJECT: Police Department Overtime Policy
Pursuant to the direction of the Public Safety Committee at their
meeting on December 1, 1993, please prepare a draft Police
Department Policy for consideration of the Public Safety Committee
at their next meeting, wherein limitations are placed upon the
amount of overtime that an officer can work in order to provide for
the safety of the officer and the general public. The next meeting
of the Public Safety Committee will be either the first or second
week of January, 1994.

SUBJECT: OVERTIME, LIMITATIONS ON CONTINUOUS SHIFT HOURS FOR
P�ITROL DIVISION.
For officer health and safety, the department will limit the number
of hours worked within a specified time period.
Road Patral Officers shall nat work more than twelve (12)
consecutive hours withaut an eight (8) hour break (off duty time),
between shifts. •
These restrictions may be waived during emergency situations as
declared by the Chief of Police or his designee.
