AN ORDINANCE OF 'TI� VII.,LAGE COUNCIL OF TI-� VII.LAGE OF
TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AN INCREASE IN THE ANNUAL
SALARY FOR VILLAGE COUNCIL MEMBERS; PROVIDING THAT SAID
SALARY INCREASE SHALL NOT BE EFFECTIVE DURING 'TI�
CURRENT TERM OF ANY COUNCIL MEMBER IN ACCORDANCE WITH
SECTIOAT 2.01 OF TI� VII..LAGE OF TEQUESTA CHARTER; PROVIDING
A CONFLICTS CLAUSE AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR O'TI�R PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Village Council Members curreatly receive a per diem allowance of
$250.00 per month; and
WHEREAS, said per diem allowance was originally set and established in 1998 and ha.s
never been adjusted since then; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Charter of the Village of Tequesta provides tha.t Village
Council Members aze entitled to an annual salary to be set by ordinance, but that any increase in
said salary shall not be effective during the current term of any Council Member; and
WI�REAS, the Village Council desires to increase the current $250.00 monthly
allowance to a salary commensurate with inflation and cost of living increases that have been
realized between 1998 and the present time, and to further increase the salary paid to the Mayor
in recognition of the additional role that the Mayor serves, as set forth in the Charter; and
WHERERAS, the Village Council believes tha.t adoption of such salary increases, to be
effective after the conclusion of the current terms for each council sea.t, is in the best interests of
the Village of Tequesta.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1: The Village Council of the Village of Tequesta hereby establishes the
following salaty increases for the Mayor and all Council Members, pursuant to Section 2.01 of
the Village Charter:
The Mayor of the Village of Tequesta shall receive an annual salary equal to Seven
Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($750.00) per month.

All Council Members of the Village of Tequesta other than the Mayor sha11 receive an
annual salary equal to Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) per month.
Section 2: The above salary increases that are in excess of the current monthly
allowance of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) per month shall become effective
immediately upon the expiration of the current terms for each council seat, pursuant to Sectioa
2.01 of the Village Charter.
Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same
are hereby repealed.
Section 4: Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any portion thereof,
any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid,
such decision sha11 not affect the validity of the remainder of this ordi.nance.
Section 5: This ordinance sha11 take effect immediately upon adoption.
