VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA WORKSHOP
VILLAGE MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM
THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2008
Call to Order and Roll Call
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pat Watkins at 4:03 p.m. A roll call was taken by
Village Clerk Lori McWilliams. Present were: Mayor Pat Watkins, Vice Mayor Calvin
Turnquest, Council Member Arena, Council Member Humpage, and Council Member Tom
Paterno. Also in attendance were: Manager Michael R. Couzzo, Jr., Village Attorney Davis,
and Village Clerk Lori McWilliams.
1. Update on Palm Beach County Fire Station 11
Village Manager Couzzo provided a short history on the Fire Station lease agreement and the
requested extensions. He stated he was meeting with Fire Chief Bryce and the County on
April 4, 2008 to discuss Council's direction regarding the station -extend or discontinue lease.
Tequesta Fire Chief Weinand distributed a map of areas where the Village would be
considered primary coverage.
Council discussed the cost to cover the unincorporated areas, voluntary level of service,
discontinuing the lease and receiving the mils to provide service to the unincorporated, putting
together a proposal, costs to run Station 11 and structuring an amicable agreement.
Village Attorney Davis reviewed, per the lease agreement, the ways in which the building could
be disposed of in the event the lease expired.
Consensus of Council agreed to try to recapture the millage if tasked as first responder for
areas north of the river. Council discussed possibly offering a sixteen month lease at a
significantly higher cost to allow Palm Beach County time to relocate, the Village to finalize
annexation plans, and for the County to provide the MSTU Ad Valorem revenue at the end of
the lease and the building for $1.00.
Village Manager suggested another workshop and asked Council to consider who they would
want to select to serve as a liaison.

MOTION: Council Member Humpage moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:16 p.m.; seconded
