Re: Fifth Annual Chili Cook-Off
Members of Tequesta Fire-Rescue, in conjunction with Friends of
Public Safety, are requesting the Village of Tequesta to be a co-
sponsor of the Fifth Annual Chili Cook-off and beer-tasting event to
raise funds for Southeast Florida Honor Flight, Inc. Honor Flight is
a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's WWII and
terminally ill veterans for all their sacrifices. Seventy Five
percent (75%} of the funds raised will be utilized to fly our WWII
heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. The
remaining Twenty-Five percent (25%) of the funds raised wi11 be
retained by the Friends of Public Safety, Inc to be utilized in its
mission to provide support to the Tequesta public safety personnel in
time of need and to continue with the construction of the memorial
project.
The event is being planned for November 7, 2015 from 2pm to 6pm at
Paradise Park. We will be bringing in a stage for live entertainment,
8- to 10 port-a-potties, tables and chairs for approximately 300
people, 33-1Ox10 folding tents for Chili teams and corporate
sponsors and plan on hiring as many Police Offices as the Police
Chief feels is appropriate for the even.
On the day of the event we request the ability of the on duty crew to
assist with the setup and breakdown of the event. We would like to
utilize the Aerial truck by extending the boom and draping an
American Flag from in it to honor aIl our fallen heroes. A11
Firefighters working the event wi11 be off duty. On duty personnel
may be needed to assist in some of the planning, along with answering
questions of the citizens of Tequesta on event details. None of the
above requests wi11 inter£ere with the aperations of the department.
