Below are general, yet important, points of informarion regarding filing and qualifying for the General Municipal Election on March 15, 2016. This information is a brief overview, and does NOT provide you with all the information you need to know as a candidate. Please re�riew your election packet thoroughly so you have a clear understanding of the process and your responsibiliries. -- - - - - - --__ • _ .. - - -_ -- _ - _ _ _ _ - _ _ - The Ap�ointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign De�ositorX fox Candidates Form is the first document to be filed with the Village Clerk (filing officer). Once this form is filed, you may open your campaign account. You should not collect any cont�ibutions or make any expenditures until this form is properly filed. I suggest you appoint a Treasurer and a Deputy Treasurer. • The Statement of Candidate Form must be filed within ten calendar days after filing the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designarion of Campaign Depository for Candidates Form. � The Qualifying Period begins at Noon, Monday, November 23, 2015 through Noon, Monday, Decembex 7, 2015. These dates and times are �'.`-`c.`- enforced and not flexible. The Village Clerk's phone clock is the official clock for compliance purposes. • The Notice of Candidacy must state the Council seat number for which you are seeking election (Seat 2 or 4), your name and address, and be signed by at least fifty registered voters of the incorporated Village of Tequesta (Nominating Petition). The Supervisox of Elecrions Office will not accept information that is not legible. DO NOT collect signatures from Luzincorporated areas as they will not be counted. • Petitions should be turned into the Village Clerk during the qualifying period, at which time they will be certified for validity by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office. Do not send the petitions direcdy to the Elections Office. Please be mindful of the time allotted for the Elections Office to certify your petitions before you are qualified as a candidate. • When filing your "Norice of Candidacy," a fil�ing fee of $30.00 (per Village of Tequesta Charter) and a$30.00 elecrion assessment fee (equal to 1% of the annual salary of the office sought) - for a total of $60.00 - must be paid with a check drawn on your campaign account (payable to the Village of Tequesta). • I will notify you as soon as possible after filing on your qualification status.
