Recognition of Pastor Paul Beresf ord
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul Beresford, affectionately known as "Pastor Paul" relocated from Ohio
to Tequesta in 2001 to serve as the Senior Pastor at Tequesta's First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul was asked in 2003 by then Police Chief Steve Allison to serve as the
Village of Tequesta's Public Safety Chaplain; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul offered his first invocation to the Village Council on March 13, 2003;
and,
WHEREAS, During his first Village Council meeting, Pastor Paul remarked, "I am humbled to
do this for the Village and will meet with the officers three times a week. I am not trying to
build a church, but I am starting a'Neighbors Who Care' policy for any family that is going
through trauma. I appreciate this honor and opportunity;" and,
WHEREAS, Since that time, Pastor Paul has been an active, dedicated and dynamic member of
the Village family attending almost every council meeting, assisting during disaster relief
efforts, offering bibles to police and fire officers, and assisting families during difficult and
trying times; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul is actively involved with helping his wife, Carol Beresford, support
the efforts of Hannah's Home, a Tequesta home that provides a safe environment and
assistance to pregnant women; and,
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul has sponsored numerous events at Tequesta's First Baptist Church
over the years, including the Annual Fall Festival, National Night Out and even assisted in
distributing gifts on Christmas Eve, confirming his dedication and commitment to the safety
and well-being of our residents; and,
WHEREAS, Pastor Paul has generously donated the church sanctuary to hold large meetings
for the Village Council, such as the Aggressive Driver Seminar, National Night Out,
Remembrance and Recognition Services for Police and Fire, Tequesta Bridge meetings, and the
US 1 Corridor meeting; and,
WHEREAS, For years, Pastor Beresford has provided each employee of the Village with a
birthday card and a small token to say "Thank You" for your service, and would often change
the church sign asking for prayer for Village staff.
