HomeMy WebLinkAboutDocumentation_Regular_Tab 02_06/09/2016 . �of�P ��� . . �� � �� �ro�Yar��rtio� Recognition of Fire Chief Jim Weinand WHEREAS, on April 26, 1993, Jim Weinand was hired as the Village of Tequesta's first Fire Chief; and WHEREAS, the Tequesta Fire Rescue was established on September 30, 1993 under Chief Weinand's watch, and WHEREAS, in 1994, Chief Weinand established the Advanced Life Support Non-Transport Service in the Village, and in 1996 he implemented the Advanced Life Support Transport Service within the Village, and WHEREAS, in 2003, Chief Weinand negotiated a new 10-year Fire Service Agreement with Jupiter Inlet Colony helping facilitate a long-standing cooperative relationship with our neighboring community, and WHEREAS, in 2004 he established the Village's first Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan ensuring the safety and well being of our residents, staff and visitors during emergency situations, and WHEREAS, in 2005, Chief Weinand successfully negotiated for Fire Rescue Dispatch Service from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue at no charge to the Village of Tequesta, and WHEREAS, in 2007 he acquired the first financial services contract with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to provide services to the unincorporated County pockets and incorporated Northern Jupiter for first response fire rescue services, and WHEREAS, from 2009-2011 he seroed as the Director of Community Development overseeing the Building and P1aru1n1g and Zoning Departments while continuing to lead the Emergency Management and Fire Rescue Services, and WHEREAS, in 2012, Chief Weinand re-negotiated the lengkh and terms of the financial services contract with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue with the new terms including fleet maintenance at no cost to the Village of Tequesta. WHEREAS, for twenty-three years, Chief Weinand has led a progressive cutting edge Fire Rescue Departxnent that has become the brightly shining gemstone of IVorth County—one that many try to simulate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Village of Tequesta recognizes Fire Chief Weinand on his retirement and greatly appreciates his devotion and genuine compassion, dedication, service and commitment to the Village staff, residents and community.
