PROCEDURE:
I. REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM:
A. Member Eligibility:
Full time new members must have satisfactorily completed their probationary period to be
eligible to participate in the college reimbursement program.
B. Degree Program Selection and Approval:
Members must provide a copy of the proposed curriculum to the
Training supervisor before enrollment. The Training supervisor will forward the request to the Chief for approval.
The Chief will determine if the program is relevant to the member’s job assignment, career path, and the needs of the
agency. Once approved, the member will not pursue college courses outside the program without prior approval from
the Chief.
C. Tuition Reimbursement:
The Village will reimburse tuition for up to two courses per semester at the current
state rate. The reimbursement amount for an Associate degree course will be based on the current semester hour rate
charged by the Palm Beach Community College. The reimbursement amount for a Bachelor or Masters degree course
will be based on the current semester hour rate charged by Florida Atlantic University. (Members attending a private

college will be responsible for any financial difference in the hourly rate.) To receive reimbursement, the following
apply:
1.
Prior to actual course registration, the member must submit a school request form to the training supervisor for
authorization. If approved, a purchase order in the tuition amount will be issued by the Village Finance Department,
thus encumbering the necessary funds.
2.
Within 14 days of completing the class, the member must submit the tuition receipt and a record of the grade
achieved to the training supervisor. Upon approval by the Training supervisor, the Village Finance Department
will issue a check payable to the member.

below “C” will receive no reimbursement.
