WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
1. Review of Committee Mission and Goals
Village Clerk McWilliams welcomed the new committee members and alternate members,
and stated that she looked forward to working with the new committee. She recalled the
prior historic committee and shared that Mrs. Dottie Campbell, a former Mayor of
Tequesta, had created the many plaques that now adorn the Village Council Chambers.
Clerk McWilliams further revealed that many of the Village artifacts were currently being
stored at the public works building, down the street. Her hope was to have them brought
back to the Village Hall building for storage and accessibility. Clerk McWilliams proposed
to have them back for the committee members to examine by the next Historic
Preservation meeting. She mentioned that the new committee would archive and display
for residents to learn more about the history of their community.
Mr. Kevin Cassidy, Alternate Historic Committee Member, suggested the group create a
flyer that could be distributed to Village residents and would give them some insight on
Tequesta's rich past.
Clerk McWilliams shared with the group that the budget for the Historic Committee was
$2500 per year. She also informed the members that they should be guided by whatever
the Committee felt was of historic significance. She advised that they keep in mind the fact
that people 50 years from now would be reviewing their contributions. Clerk McWilliams
reminded the Committee that history would be archived thru the meeting minutes, as well.
2. Review Historical Catalog of Archived Items
Clerk McWilliams explained that Mrs. Betty Lauer worked on the Historic Committee for
many years and had created a collection by number archive system. She passed out a
sample of the number system for Committee Members to review.
3. Provide Overview of Historical Memorabilia Received
