~1~V3fERE.~S, tiVe the People did ordain and esta6Cish a
Constitution for The United States of .~merica to secure tG~e
blessings of liberty for oursewes and our property; and
~1N3-fERE.~IS, it is important that all citizens fully understand
the provisions, principles, and meaning of the Constitution so they
can support, preserve, and defend it against encroachment; and
1N.7-fERE.~LS, the Bicentennial of the Constitution provides an
historic opportunity for all.~lmericans to learn about and to reflect
upon the rights and privileges and citizenship a-nd its
responsibilities; and
tiV9-fERE.~IS, the President and Congress of tFi.e `(.lnited States
have designated September i~ as Citizensh~ Day an-d the week of
September 17-23 as Constitution Week; and
~LV3fERE~S, the people of the ViCCage o ~ec~uesta, glorida do
enjoy the blessings of ~i6erty, the guarantees of the Bill of Rights,
equal protection of the lativ under the Constitution., and the
freedoms derivedfrom it;
NOtiV, 73-CEREFORE I, James .~-fumpage, Mayor of the
Village of 7"ec~uesta, in cooperation lvith th-e Commission on the
Bicentennial of the `United States Constitution, do hereby procGzim
September 1~ as Citizensh-ip Day and the tiveek of September i7-z3 as
Constitution `tiVeek, and invite every citizen and institution to join
in the nationalcele6ration.
