Council Member Arena suggested upgrading the Vitlage water customers within the next
twa years, then adding the automatian feature technolagy. Manager Couzzo revealed
that this was possible and tha#the bids may come in less than tke current es#imates,
Attarney Keith Davis stated#here would be a second reading of the final tax reduction#his
month, which would be effective as of October 2017. The rate increase had to be noticed
on the water bill, then the public meeting could take place in August or September.
Z. Discuss Tequesta Drive Sidewalk Replacement
Manager Couzzo reminded Council of the possibility of repairing and replacing the
sidewalks throuhout the Village with ei#her concrete or asphalt. Mr. Doug Chambers,
Deputy Public Works Director, informed Council tha# currntly there was a combination
ofi asphatt and cancrete sidewalks varying befin►een the sizes of 4 and 6 feet wide,
throughout the Village. Mayor Brennan mentioned tha##here should be scame government
fund'mg available for this project. She also stated that the size a# the sidewaiks was
subjective and bringing sQmeone iri from the MP4 wauld be a good idea.
Gauncil Member Arena asked ihat N1r. Chambers be mindfiul of a rninimum s#andard
foo#age to the street, as there were some areas within the VEtlage where the sidewafk was
tao close to the road. It was a consensus of Council that ifie existing pavers should
remain untouched when refurbishing the sidewalks along Country C{ub Driwe. Once the
new concrete sidewatks were installed, residents would not be able ta alter #he new
sidewalk area.
Manager Couzzo commen#ed that the area in front of the Prada development, aff of Island
Way n Jupiter, had a new sidewalk that was aesthetically pleasing, and he encouraged
Council to take a look at it when they had a chance.
Manager Cauzzo mentioned the concept of a new recreation center in the Village a#the
Remembrance Park IocatiQn. He felt it would be a good option that the administration
would #urther develap wit Council. Manacer Gouzzo felt ideal}r it would be 1t},40C1
square #eet and could offer classes and possibty sports courts. He felt Council should
consider using the penny sates tax ta help pay for the recreation aenter, which may cost
somewhere around two million dotlars. Council Member Patemo wondered when the
roads and other infrastructure work would get accomplished and how those projects
wauld be funded. He was also concemed with the ongoing operational costs for such a
facilit}r. Nlanager Couzzo assured Council that there would be many workshops in the
future tc address the Recreation Center. Mayor Brennan shared with Council, recent
feedback fram residents which indicated local par#cs and recreation were huge draws to
