Chapter 2, .�rticle � of the �"illage Code oY Ordinances provides that the Village Clerk, or designee,
along with the Palm Beach County Super��isor of Elections, or designee, and one Council Member
(which can include the i�layor) whose posiuon is either not scheduled to be voted apon or who is
unopposed at the election being canvassed, shall be appointed to serve as the Canvassing Board.
Canvassing of an elecuon is an important procedure following an elecrion in which the Canvassing
Board publicly canvasses the absentee electors' ballots and provisional ballots as provided bv state
statute. rldditionally, in the unlikely event of a contested election, the canvassing board meets to
publicly canvass all election ballots. Canvassing Board members must remain unbiased at all times,
and must never touch the ballots. �1ien determining if a vote should count or not count, the
Canvassing Board shall not base their decision upon the area in which a voter lives or their personal
knowledge of a�oter's intent in voting on a candidate or issue.
DUTIES:
• Pro�-isional ballots - The can�-assing board shall examine each Pro�-isional Ballot Voter's
Ceruficate and Affirmarion to detemune if the person voting that ballot was entided to vote
at the precinct where the person cast a vote in the election and that the person had not
already cast a ballot in the elecrion. (night of election)
• Tesring of tabulating equipment (I,&.� testing) — The canvassing board shall convene, and
each member of the canvassing board shall certify to the accuracy of the test. For the test,
the canvassing board may designate one member to represent it. The I.&:-� test is scheduled
for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Supervisor of Elections Office. The Village
Clerk will attend as the designated representative for the test.
• Canvass of returns — For each ballot or ballot image on which write-in votes have been cast,
the canvassing board shall compare the write-in votes with the votes cast on the ballot.

• Voting System rludit — Immediatelv following the cerrification of each election, the county
canvassing board or the local board responsible for certifying the elecuon shall conduct a

manual audit of the voting systems used in randomly selected precincts. (March 19 — 9:30
a.m.�
• Canvassing of vote by mail ballot — The supervisor shall safely keep the ballot unopened in
his or her office until the canvassing board canvasses the vote. The canvassing board may
begin the canvassing of vote by mail ballots at 7:00 a.m. on the 15`'' day before the election,
but not later than noon on the day following the elecrion.
REQUEST:
Please appoint a council member to serve as a member of the Canvassing Board and a alternate in
case the appointed member is unable to fulfill the duties.

March election(s):

A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR THE
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY,
MARCH 13, 2018, AND � NECESSARY, THE MUNICIPAL
RUN-OF`F ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MARCH 27,
2018,FOR THE PURPOSE OF EI.ECTING COUNCIL SEATS 1,
3 AND 5 FOR TWO YEAR TERMS; REQUESTING THE PALM
BEACH COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS CONDUCT
THE ELECTION; DESIGNATING POLLING LOCATIONS;
NAMING THE CANVASSING BOARD; ESTABLISHING
ELECTION PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WIiEREAS,the ViUage has adopted the Uniform Filing and election dates as authorized
by the Legislature of the State of Florida, House Bill 742, designating the second Tuesday in
March as the uniform election date for municipal offce; and designating a filing period for such
office from Noon on the first Tuesday in December and end at Noon on the third Tuesday in
December in the year immediately preceding the election; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.01 of the Village Charter provides that Council Members shall be
elected at large to Seats 1, 3 and 5 in the even years;and
WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta requests the Palm Beach
County Supervisor of Elections conduct the municipal election;and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 5 of the Village Code of Ordinances provides that the
Village Clerk, or designee, along with the Patm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, or ,
designee, and one Council Member(which can include the Mayor) whose position is either not
scheduled to be voted upon or who is unopposed at the election being canvassed, shall be
appointed to serve as the Canvassing Board;and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article V of the Village Code of Ordinances further provides
that the Village Clerk may appoint or hire as many inspectors of election, and other election
workers as deemed necessary to conduct elections in the Village;and
VVHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta desires to designate polling
tocations, and establish election procedures for the General Municipal Election on March 3,
2018;and if necessary a Municipal Run-off Election on March 27,2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA,PALM BEACH COUNTY,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Election is scheduled to be held on
Tuesday, March 13,2018;and if necessary,a Municipal Run-off will be held on Tuesday, March
27, 2018. The polling locations will be:
Precinct 1078,Precinct 1088,and Precinct 1094
Tequesta Recreation Center, 399 Seabrook Road
Precinct 1112, 1116, 1118,and 1120
Village Hall Chambers, 345 Tequesta Drive
The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m.
Section 2. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3.04 of the Village Charter, the Village
Clerk shall be the Clerk of Elections and shall supervise the conduct of the General Municipal
Election and Run off Election in accordance with the State of Florida Election Laws and the
Village of Tequesta Code of Ordinances.
Sectan 3. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is hereby requested to conduct
the election as set forth in the Vote Processing Equipment Use and Election Services Agreement,
effective January l, 2017.
Section 3. The Village Clerk shall authorize payment of the Inspectors of Election per the rates
in effect by the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections for poll workers, inspectors, clerks,
precinct advisors,and deputies.
Section 4. Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article V of the Village Code of Ordinances, the Village
Clerk, or designee, along with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, or designee, and
one Council Member(which can inciude the Mayor)whose position is either not scheduled to be
voted upon or who is unopposed at the election being canvassed, shall be appointed to and
constitute the Village of Tequesta's Canvassing Boazd for the purpose of conducting the General
Municipal Election and, if necessary,the Runoff Election.
Section 5. The provisions of the Florida Elections Code relating to absentee ballots shall apply
to the Generat Municipal Election and, if necessary, the Run Off Election, allowing the Palm
Beach County Supervisor of Elections to canvass the absentee ballots, and attend the Logic and
Accuracy Test, for the Village of Tequesta.
Section 6. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections is hereby designated to tabulate the
ballots cast at the General Municipal Election March 13, 2018, and, if necessary, the Run-off
Election March 2'7,2018.
Section 7. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to post this Resolution in the Village
Administrative Offices immediately after passage, and provide a certified copy to the Palm
Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
