Couzzo, Jr., Village Manager Honorable Mayor and Village Council Members FROM: Lori McWilliams, Village Clerk '~N` DATE: March 30, 2007 SUBJECT: Certification of the Election Results of the Regular and Special March 13, 2007 Municipal Election Attached for your information is the official election results of the March 13, 2007 Municipal Election as certified by the Supervisor of Elections Office. Approval of the Resolution is requested to provide an official record of said certification for official documentation purposes. RESOLUTION 43-06/07 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR AND SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 13, 2007 FOR THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA COUNCIL. WHEREAS, the regular and special election for four Village Council seats for the Village of Tequesta was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007; and WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office have presented to the Village of Tequesta the certified results of said election and they have made their canvass of ballots as required by law; and WHEREAS, the Village Council did assemble together on the 12th day of April, 2007 during and Regular Village Council Meeting to certify the election results. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA Section 1. Upon canvas of the election returns as presented by the Supervisor of Elections Election Board and as certified by the Village Clerk, the Village Council hereby declares and certifies that electors cast their ballots as follows: A. Seat 1: (one year term due to Councilmember Genco's resignation) Daniel J. Amero 526 votes 59.57% Peter C. Mollengarden 357 votes 40.43% Mr. Amero, having received the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected to said office. B. Seat 2: Patricia Watkins, having run unopposed, is hereby declared elected to said office. C. Seat 4: (two year term) Vincent J. Arena, III 368 votes 40.17% Steve Okun 117 votes 12.77% Thomas J. Paterno 431 votes 47.05% Mr. Paterno having received the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected to said office. D. Seat 5: (one year term due to special qualifications as outlined in Resolution 32-06/07) Calvin Tumquest, having run unopposed, is hereby declared elected to said office. Section 2. The foregoing tabulation of the votes cast is hereby certified as the results of the regular and special election. Section 3. The Village Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor of Elections of Palm Beach County, and to post a copy for public notice. Section 4.
