Subject: POLICE VEHICLE EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION
After working with vendors to develop the new patrol vehicles for the Tequesta
Police Department we were fortunate to find cone-stop vendor, who provides
products that are unique only to them and offers pricing based on an existing
government contract.
Emergency Vehicle Supply (EVS) was the only vendor who offered us the
opportunity to drop off our vehicles and would completely redesign the vehicle,
including the new paint scheme. EVS pricing is based on the City of Miami Contract
Award, No. 05-06-035A (10); therefore we will be able to piggyback on the Miami
contract. In addition, EVS has products exclusive to their company making them
essentially sole source.
I would request that the Council approve EVS as the vendor to build and equip the
police cars. The Police Department plans to equip six (6) police vehicles like the
proto-type car, Unit #420. The cost per vehicle is $8,808.32 for a total of $52,849.92.
The funding is available in account #001-175-546.302; Vehicle Repair and
Maintenance -see budget transfer attached.
The equipment and building of the vehicles is part of the In-Car Mobile Technology
previously approved by the Council in Resolution #30-06/07.
Attached for your review is the quote and itemized list of equipment submitted by
EVS.
I want to thank the Council and you for allowing me the opportunity to build our
police vehicles with this state-of the-art design and equipment. I hope you find the
documentation sufficient; however, I am always available to answer any questions.
