3ubject: Request to Perform Construction Work on a egal Village
Holiday
This is in response to your memorandum dated October 29, 1998,
regarding the above-referenced subject and the contractor working
on the construction of Tequesta's new Reverse Osmosis Water
Treatment Facility.
At the risk of incurring the wrath of the Village Council, I am
hereby requesting that you notify Poole and Kent Company that their
request to work on Veteran's Day has been approved by the Village
Manager. My logic in this is as follows:
1. This is a public project for the provision of public
drinking water;
2. Virtually no residential areas of the Village, except
perhaps Sterling House, are likely to be effected;
3. By allowing Poole and Kent to work on Veterans' Day, you
can report to the Village Council whether any complaints
regarding the same were. received when the matter of
allowing Poole and Kent to work on Presidents' Day, 1999,
is considered by the Village Council at their meeting on
November 12, 1998. In other words, Veterans' Day, 1998,
will be a trial run for Poole and Kent and the Village
Council will be able to determine if any problems were
encountered on this particular day.
Therefore, the matter will be considered by the Village Council at
their meeting on November 12, 1998. Additionally, based upon the
schedule for the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility, Poole
and Kent needs to be notified by you that they will require Village
Council approval for all legal holidays encountered, including, but
1
not limited to, Memorial Day, 1999; Independence Day, 1999; and
Labor Day, 1999.
Should you have any questions relative to the plan of action
outlined herein, please contact me at your convenience.

SUBJECT: Regaest to perform construction work on a legal Village holiday.
Tom, attached is a copy of a letter sent to me from the Poole and Kent Company requesting Village
permissiem to wer1E om a couple of Village Jegal lioliday~ As 3~ and 1 ~-way bask when-the
Cliveden project on Beach Road wanted to do the same thing, you advised at that time that any request to
work on a legal Village holiday would have to be reviewed and approved by the Village Council.
It is too late for any action to be taken with regard to the inquest for Veteran's Day, November 11, 1998
due to the fact that the next available Council meeting is on November 12, 1998. Please advise if you are
going to place the request on the meeting of the 12`~ for their additional request for Presidents Day,
February 15, 1998. Thank you for yow attention to this request.
