MAYOR OF TEQUESTA ATTEST: Ron T. Mackail Joann Manganiello Village Clerk WP80\MyFiles\Aesolutions\37-98-99 Village of Tequerta Memo To: Thomas G. Bradford, Village Manager ' From: Matthew J. Morrison, Utilities Director ~d , Date: June 1, 1999 ~" Subject: Resolution No. 37-98/99 -Approving Proposal for the Purchase of Hand Held Meter Reading Hardware and Software from Sensus Technologies, Inc. Effective July 1,.1999, the Finance Department for the Village of Tequesta.will~ be utilizing a new accounting software package (FundBalance 32 -Attachment I) that will strongly add versatility, flexibility and Y2K compliance to customer accounting and management. In order for the Utilities Department to be compatible with this new software, it is necessary to upgrade the hand held meter reading hardware and software currently used for billing purposes. In accordance with the Village of Tequesta's Procurement Code, I have provided three (3) written quotations (Attachment II) for upgrading the hand held meter reading hardware and software. In reviewing these quotations, the Utilities Department is recommending that we purchase the necessary equipment for FundBalance 32 compatibility from Sensus Technologies, Inc., in the amount of $9,487.50. This decision is based upon the following reasons: 1. Extended warranty and software support (15 months of service through FY 99/00). 2. Rapid turnaround time on warranty service and repair. 3. Same manufacturer that supplies the majority of meters that the Village is currently using. 4. Easily retrofitted for touch read (meter reading that scans monthly consumption). Upon approval, Sensus Technologies will provide two (2) touch read capable hand held reading devices, AutoRead Windows software, startup services/training and fifteen (15) months of support services. Please place this Proposal for the purchase of the Hand Held Meter Reading Hardware and Software from Sensus Technologies, Inc., on the June 10, 1999, Village Council Meeting Agenda for consideration by the Village Council.
