HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_12/16/1985MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA DECEMBER 16, 1985 A Special Council Meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta was held at 5:.00 P.D4., Tuesday, December 16, 1985 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Councilmembers present were: Howell, Gemino and Stoddard. Also present were: Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney. Mr. Edwin F. Radson, District IV Railroad Coordinator was here at the request of Council. Mr. Radson explained to Council that there will be installation at the intersection of five (5) section signal head and an eight (8) phase traffic controller. This will change the pattern of traffic as it moves thru that corner so that the traffic signals will be coordinated with the railroad signalization. In the agreement, its states that the Village of Tequesta shall pay 50% of the annual maintenance cost for the railroad signalization portion which is about $980.00 annually. • F~9r. Radson also said that in the agreement, the word County will be changed to Village and the City of Tequesta will be changed to Village of Tequesta. Stoddard told Council he'met with the County and the County said they will assist the Village of Tequesta in an over all traffic review. Mr. Radson told Council that the bids were let in January, awarded in February and construction should start in May. When questioned about additional liability to the Village, the Village Attorney advised Council that the Village should notify the rail- road if the Village sees their is a problem with the signalization. Gemino moved, "that we accept the agreements pertaining to the up- grading of the Railroad Crossing signalization at Tequesta Drive and Old Dixie Highway including the Railroad Reimbursement Agreement:' i~owell seconded and vote on the motion was: Gemino - for Howell - for Stoddard - for and therefore the motion was passed and adopted. 2. The next item on the agenda was the appointment of person to fill Council Vacancy. Stoddard told Council he thinks Council should appoint someone tonight, but Council doesn't have to if it doesn't want to. Special Council Meeting December 16, 1986 Page 2 - ------------------------------------ Mr. Ron Mackail, a possible selection to Council, introduced himself to Council and gave Council a brief background of his qualifications for being a Councilmember. It was the consensus of Council that this item be put on the agenda for the Council Meeting of January 10, 1986. Howell moved, "to appoint James Coble to the Community Appearance Board". Gemino seconded and vote on the motion was:. Gemino - for Howell - for Stoddard - for and therefore the motion was passed and adopted. Gemino moved, "that we hold off on the appointment of John Larsen to the Community Appearance Board until there is a full Council." Howell seconded and vote on the motion was: • Gemino - for Howell - for Stoddard - for and therefore the motion was passed and adopted. Stoddard told Council he visited with all the members of the South Florida Water Management District and he quickly picked up they are very interested in Tequesta!s expansion of the Well Field here and they will do all they can to help us.
