HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_12/11/1984MINUTES OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL MEETING OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA DECEMBER 11, 1984 A meeting was held by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida at 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, December 11, 1984 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Wagar. Councilmembers present were: Brown, Mapes, Murphy, Stoddard and Also present were: Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney. The Opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given by Councilmember Mapes. There were no addition, deletions or changes made to the agenda. Councilmember Mapes told Council that he had heard over the news just before he came that Judge Williams had just ruled Palm Beach County had withheld $7.5 million of Road and Bridge Funds from seventeen (17) villages and towns that had filed suit against Palm Beach County. . Mayor Stoddard announced the first meeting of the Legislative Delegation on Monday, December 17,.1984 at 3:00 P.M. He said there were two suggestions he was going to give them. They were to have a traveling judge for this area and the status of the 3-1/2 acres north of Coral Cove Park. Mapes suggested that the speed limit on U.S. No. 1 in Tequesta's Village limits be lowered to 35 m.p.h. Council agreed that all three (3) of these items would be good suggestions for the Legislative Delegation to work on. Mayor Stoddard told Council that the Village has been asked by the Palm Beach County Blood Bank to Proclaim January as National Volunteer Blood Month. Mapes asked the Village Attorney when the Village will have first reading on the proposed Zoning Ordinance Revisions. The Village Attorney advised that we have to have two Public Hearings. The first will probably be about mid January and the second one will probably be the latter part of January or the first part of February. Stoddard asked the Village Attorney. if he has heard anything from the County about the annexation of Coral Cove Park. The Village Attorney told Council he has written the Attorney for Palm Beach County about the annexation of Coral Cove Park and the whistle blowing ordinance, but he has not heard anything from the County yet on either one of these subjects. Minutes of the Village Council Meeting December 11, 1984 Page 2 - ------------------------------------------ 3a. The next item on the agenda was the appointments to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Mapes moved that "Ernest C. Bryan and John P. Turner, Jr., be appointed for a three (3) year term commencing January 1, 1985 to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the appointment of Mary L. Nolen to a one (1) year term as an Alternate Member also commencing January 1, 1985." Murphy seconded and vote on the motion was: Brown - for Mapes - for Murphy - for Stoddard - for Wagar - for and therefore the motion was passed and adopted. The Minutes of the November 13, 1984 Council Meeting, the Village Manager's Report for November 25, 1984 to December 8, 1984 and the Village and Water Department Financial Statements for October 1984 were all received. • Stoddard asked that the Village Manager check into having turn signals installed at Old Dixie and Tequesta Drive going east, at Tequesta Drive and U.S. No. 1 and at Waterway Road and U.S. No. 1. It was noted that the Police Department will have False Alarm Offenders at the first Council Meeting in January. The meeting was adjourned at 7:58 P.M.
