WORKSHOP MEETING OF THE VILLAGE
• OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
FEBRUARY 19, 1985
A Workshop Meeting was held by the Village Council of the Village of
Tequesta at 5:00 P.M., in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta,
Florida.
Councilmembers present were: Brown, Mapes, Murphy, Stoddard and
Wagar.
Also present were: Robert Harp, Village Manager, Bill C. Kascavelis,
Finance Director, Jack Kuper, Data Processing System Analyst and Councilmembers
elect Gemino and Howell.
The purpose of the Workshop Meeting was to review a request from the
Administration to up-grade the Village's data processing system.
Mayor Stoddard called the meeting to order and requested the Finance
Director to briefly review the Village's present data processing system and
detail the administration's recommendations for up-grading of the data processing
system.
• A summarization of the Finance Director's comments are:
The Village entered into the field of data processing in February 1981
with the acquisition of an NCR 8150 single terminal computer system, consisting
of 64K bytes of memory and 20 megabytes of hard disc storage.
Software programs were provided for the Water Department utility billing,
and the Finance Department payroll and financial management system, for a total
cost of approximately $40,000.00.
The Village is presently feeling the growing pains associated with
attempting to process additional applications utilizing the single terminal.
To meet the present and foreseeable future data processing needs of the
Village, the Village Manager and Finance Director have recommended up-grading
the system to an NCR I-Tower, multi-terminal environment consisting of 5 CRT's,
(work stations) with two printers.
The I-Tower computer system provides 512 K-bytes of memory and 40
megabytes of hard disc storage, with additional memory and storage capability
if needed. The system could also be expanded to provide for 8 additional ter-
minals (work stations).
The Village Manager indicated the initial 8 terminals would be utilized
as follows:

Numerous questions were addressed by the members of the Council to the
Finance Director and I:9r. Jack Kuper, Independent Systems Analyst.
A summarization of the basis for the administration's recommendation
is:
The I-Tower System would provide the most economical upward migration
path available to the Village.. The total support system provided by NCR has
been the basis for numerous governmental entities selection of NCR systems.
The configuration recommended will adequately provide the Village
with the required hardware, software, remote diagnostics and training (total
support), necessary to meet the present and foreseeable future date processing
needs of the various departments of the Village.
Mayor Stoddard commented favorably on the recommendation and indicated
the matter would be included in the agenda of the Council Meeting on
February 26, 1985.
