OF T}~E VILLAGE COUNCIL
OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA
JUNE 19, 1985
A Special Council Meeting of the Village Council of the Village of
Tequesta was held at 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 19, 1985 in the Village
Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida.
Councilmembers present were: Gemino, Howell, Mapes, Murphy and
Stoddard.
Also present were: Robert Harp, Village Manager, Cyrese Colbert,
Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the water situation.
Mr. Bill Reese, Gee $ Jenson, told Council that the situation at
Well Field 5 was critical. The level at that well field is as low as it has
ever been even a month ago when the well was in trouble. Mr. Reese told
Council it was Gee $ Jenson's recommendation that Well Field 5 be shut down
for a while and that we run Well 7R all night because Well 7R is available
to us.
• Well 23 is having electrical problems and they are having a hard time
getting it running. Mr. Reese ran down the problems they were having with
the well. Mr. Reese told Council they got it running late this afternoon
and tomorrow they should be able to start it up.
Mr. Reese recommended that we run Well 7R all night and then go to
Well 23 tomorrow and run that all day for a while. He also informed Council
that Jupiter is in a tough situation too.
Mapes asked what South Florida Water Management District was doing
about putting on some kind of County wide water use restrictions. Mr. Reese
said that S.F.W.M.D, have had a couple of meeting and they have chosen not
to do anything.
Gemino wanted to know were we where with the enclosure for Well 7R.
The Village Manager told Council the blocks are going up now and that he
would check to see if he could talk to the contractor to see if things
could be speeded up.
Mr. Reese told Council he would not recommend mandatory water use
restrictions at this time but that we run Well 7R all night.
Mapes wanted to know what would South Florida Water Management District
do if we put on our own mandatory water use restrictions. The Attorney advised
that what the district is looking at is that we could put on water use restrictions
if it relates to plant operation problems which this problem may do. Mapes asked
the Village Manager to talk to the District to get their feelings on our imme-
diate problem is and the possibilities of water use restrictions if the need
arises.
