HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Workshop_02/17/1987 VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA Post Office Box 3273 357 Tequesta Drive Tequesta, Florida 33469-0273 • (305) 746-7457 MINUTES VILLAGE COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING FEBRUARY 17, 1987 A Village Council workshop meeting was held on Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at 5:30 P.M. at the Village Hall, at 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida, to discuss the usage of Village owned land by the Lighthouse Gallery, Inc. The meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. Councilmembers present were: Carlton D. Stoddard, Mayor; Edward C. Howell, Vice- Mayor; Councilmembers present: Jill K. Gemino, Edwin J. Nelson, and Ron Mackail. Village Officials present were: Thomas G. Bradford Village Manager; John C. Randolph, Esq., Village Attorney; Scott D. Ladd, Building Official; Bill C. Kascavelis, Finance Director/Village Clerk; John McKune, Tom Jensen and Jon Dyer, Consulting Engineers, Gee & Jenson Engineering, Inc., and members of the Lighthouse Gallery, Inc., Board of Directors. • The Mayor opened the meeting by introducing Mr. John McKune who reported on the status of Village owned Water Department land. Mr. McKune reviewed existing facilities and easements throughout the area surrounding the present water plant site and noted that construction of a large facility would not be deemed advisable in that area. Mr. McKune also indicated that his recommendation to the Village would be to retain all land currently owned in the area of the Water Plant for future plant expansions. He noted the current 1.8 M.G.D. plant capacity is currently in the planning stages to be expanded to a 3.0 M.G.D. capacity plant. Mr. McKune also reviewed the covenants of the bond mortgage endenture which does not permit giving away any assets of the Water Department. He also indicated that he in good conscious could not recommend release of any presently owned Water Department land. Mayor Stoddard reported that he had met with developers of the land in the 69 acre area, east of the Water Treatment Plant and he had received assurances that they would be willing to seek a contribution of the land for the planned Lighthouse Gallery, Inc. expansion in conjunction with an auditorium and new County Library. The Mayor noted the need for a master plan of the area, and indicated that developers were willing to conduct such a study. Mr.Maiden indicated Lighthouse Gallery, Inc. plans would be made available to the developers for their use in developing a master plan for land in the area. • • Minutes of Meeting February 17, 1987 Page 2 - ----------------------- Mr. John Giba made a presentation of the advantages of locating a cultural and expanded facility for Lighthouse Gallery in the area noted by the Mayor. Upon completion of the presentation a polling of the Councilmembers indicated they were in agreement with the proposal presented by Mayor Stoddard and Mr. Giba. The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
