HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_05/12/1987 VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA Post Office Box 3273 • 357 Tequesta Drive Tequesta, Florida 33469-0273 • (305) 746-7457 VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES MAY 12, 1987 The Tequesta Village Council held a regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday,- May 12, 1987 at 7:55 P.M., at the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. I. A roll call was taken, and all Councilmembers were present in addition to the officials noted as present at the Public Hearing held immediately prior to the Council meeting. II. Approval of Agenda A. The agenda was approved as submitted. III. Approval of Minutes and Reports • A. The Village Council Meeting minutes of April 28, 1987 were approved as submitted. B. The Village Manager's Report for the period covering April 28 through May 8, 1987 was approved as submitted. IV. Communications From Citizens A. Ms. Faye Schrecengost, Executive Director of the Lighthouse Gallery, Inc. announced that the Annual Arts Festival will be held Sunday, November 22, 1987. Ms. Schrecengost requested consideration of Council prior to proceeding to secure authorization from various government agencies to: install a banner across U.S. Highway One at Tequesta Drive, close Tequesta Drive from west of Venus to Seabrook Road, which was deemed necessary for success for the Annual Arts Festival. The Village Manager and Police Chief were requested to work with the Lighthouse Gallery to • determine if an acceptable parking/traffic plan could be arranged for the event. • Minutes of Meeting May 12, 1987 Page 2- ------------------------------- V. Proclamation and Awards A. Police Chief Flannery presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Mr. Joe Sims for his outstanding contribution in public service to the Village in the capacity of an auxiliary office for the past five (5) years. B. Village Council approved a Proclamation presented by the Mayor proclaiming Soil & Water Stewardship Week for the week of May 24 through May 31, 1987. VI. New Business A. The Village Manager reviewed a memorandum to Council requesting the authority to sell two (2) used police cruisers to Mr. George Turpin, 4889 South Congress Avenue, Lake Worth, Florida for his • high bid in the amount of $1,776.00 for both vehicles. Upon completion of the presentation, Councilmember Mackail moved, seconded by Councilmember Collings, "to authorize the sale of two (2) used police cruisers to Mr. George Turpin for the highest bid received in the amount of $1,776.00". The vote on the motion was: Earl L. Collings - for Edward C. Howell - for Ron Mackail - for Edwin J. Nelson - for Carlton D. Stoddard - for the vote on the motion therefore passed and was adopted. VII. Any Other Matters A. Council authorized the Mayor to forward a letter of endorsement to the County Commissioners in support of funding requested by the Palm Beach County Engineering Department in the amount of $210,000 • for restoration and renourishment of Coral Cove Park.' • Minutes of the Meeting May 12, 1987 Page 3 - -------------------------------- B. Mayor Stoddard noted that Mr. John Larsen, President, Beach Road Association, had informed him the association was in favor of the County Wide Sea Turtle Protection Ordinance. C.
