METING OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA January 26, 19$2 A meting was held by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, at '7:30 P.i~~7, , Tuesday, January 26, 1932 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. Councilmembers present were: Brown, Cook, Little, Mapes and Stoddard. Also present were: Robert Harp, Village il~anager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk and John. C. Randolph, Village Attorney. The opening Prayer and Pledge cif A1.a.~7iance to the Flab, was given by Mayor Mapes. - Dr, Stanley Jacobs, Country Club Community, told Council he wanted to commend the Police Department on the fine ~iob they did on the remodeling of the Police Department. Peter Baron, 7 Garden Street, told Council he did • not agree with the County Commissioners i.d.ea of adding an additional 2~ - 4~ tax for culture programs ire the County, i~~r. Baron feels a Councilmember should attend the CGUnty Commissa.ori Meeting. The following item was added. as 4a. on the Agenda. 4a. Disc'assion of Tequesta Tribute - 25 Years Mr. Cotter Christian, Gee 8c Jenson, was present to review with Council a permitting problem with the Intracoastal Crossing _ Blowing Rocks, that has come up. Mr. Christian told Counc~.l tYat the Army Corps. o~' Engineers and D.E.R. have reviewed the Intracoastal Crossing Blowing Roek project and they have notechnical objection to it. ~Ie also told Council tYYat they have been promised a letter from the Nature Conservancy this week which states thea.r intent to grant us the easement.. P~'Ir. Christian told Council teat Mr, Von Zabern. has the necessary papers for the easement and there is no prot~l~:;m there. ivTr, Von Zabern. is going to give the Village an ea:>emEnt on the West side of the Intracoastal. • c C~1-16-~2 -O2 iUlr. Chri stia n told Council that Mr, Hamilton Gasque owner of the land south. of Conch Cove :Marina, has sent a letter to the Army Corpsof Engineers with a simi-lac letter to D,E.R. stating various objections he has with the project, Mr, Christian explained to Council. the various steps Gee & Jenson is recommending that should be taken to ratify Mr, Gasque's objections. Stoddard moved, "that we approve the procedure to install a rip rap structure to stabilize and protect this peninsula and. that we authorize this to be worked out in cost detail and en gineering detail. by Gee & Jenson working with our Village Manager and Village Attorney", Little seconded and vote on the motion was: Brown -for Cook -for Litt le -for Mapes -f or Stoddard -.f. or ar~d therefore the motion was passed and adopted, The Village Attorney gave Council an update on what has transpired since receiving r~-~s~.den~; Rober~fi ~fiore ~s letter suggesting that the Village file suit for Declaratory Judgrn~nt; to settle pending litigation in reference to truck Ordinance, • Th.e Village Attorney to1.d Council that the offer of the suit for Declaratory Judg menu was made in good faith to the Attorney of Turtle Creek Property Owners Association and he was told by their Attorney that the offer was totally unacceptable, Little asked the Village Attorney what would happen if 'the Village went along with the Turtle Creek Property Owners Association request and opened Country Glub Drive North to allow trucks to come into Tequesta that route, could we be challenged again, The ViJ ] e~~; Attc+rnev a~3v:i.sed Little that the Village could be challenged b3T any group. Little told Council that he feels tree Vi]_lage should proceed with the presently pending law suit, Mr, Robert P~Zoore, resident, told Council that he is for the declaratory judg went- settlement instead of proceeding with the lawsuit. Mr, John Giba, resident, asked the Village to think about the enforcement of the Resolution. and feels the Resolution that was recently adopted is easy to follow and to enforce. Dr, Stanley Jacobs, resident, told Council he feels there should be another workshop meeting with all- parties involved. f C 1-16-$2 -03 Councilmember Cook feels that the Village should • request a fee from Turtle Creek Property Owners Association for the eventual deterioration of Tequesta~s roads caused by heavy traffic into their area. It was the consensus of Council to have a Workshop Meeting next week with all Attorney involved, TequestaTs Attorney, Turtle Creek Property Owners Associationts Attorney and HartlandTs Attorney to discuss the situation. The Minutes of the January 12, 19$2 Council Meeting and the Village Managers Report for January 10, 19$2 to January 23, 19$2 were approved. Stoddard said he would like to see Mrs. Midge Little come to a meeting and talk about the Advance Life Support System. Mayor Mapes told-Council he would like a consensus from them on the future of C.O.G. It was the consensus of Council to keep C.O.G. going. Little informed Council of the 25th. Anniversary Celebration that the Village is going to have. Bob Rose, resident, briefly ran down the list of the events that are going to take place during the Celebration.
