HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Regular_01/09/1982 MINUTES OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL T~ETING OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA February 9, 19$2 A meeting was held by the Village Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida, at 7:30 P.M,, Tuesday, February 9, 19$2 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, F]_orida, Councilmembers present were: Brown, Cook, Little, Mapes and Stoddard, Also present were: Robert Harp, Village T~2anager, Cyrese Colbert, Village Clerk and John C. Randolph, Village Attorney, The opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given by Vice-Mayor Stoddard.. There were no announcements. There was no one who wished to speak under "Time for Visitors". Since the Village Attorney would be late in arriving, • the Council agreed to address item 1~.. MTNUTES AND REPORTS, first on the Agenda. The Village Manager's Report - January 2~., 192 to February 6, 19$2, the Village Financial Statement - December, 19~"1 and the Water Department Financial Statement - December, 191 were all approved as received. The Village Attorney arrived and the next item to be discussed was la. Discussion of Village.position in r~ to Turtle Creek Village Prot~erty Owners Petition to Martin County Commission to have their roads made private from Pub The Village Attorney told Council that he had been contacted by the Attorney for Turtle Creek Property Owners Association and was told by their Attorney that they are ready to sit down and talk in regard to Tequesta's'No Through Trucks" Ordinance. The Village Attorney to1.d Council that any comments on this item should be in conjunction with a TiJorkshop Meeting to be set up by Council. The Village Attorney also told Council that the Village should i.n his opinion, object to the TVTartin County Commission about Turtle Creek requesting that their roads be turned into private roads. 02--09-$2 -02 Cotuacil set t~aednesd ay, February 17, 19$2 at 5:00 P,T~t. as a ti^Jorkshop/Special Council. t~Zeeting. T~tayor Tv7apes told Council that the storage room at Tequesta Park that was used to store athletic equipment was recently damaged by fire and that the equipment inside was also destroyed or damaged, He told L'ounci~_ that JTAA. had built the building and donated it to the Village. Since the building was the property of the Vi~.lage it was insured, but the contents whie_:h belonged to JTAA had no insurance, T•~.ayor T~~Tapes suggested to Council. that the Village donate up to 4>5,000» for new equipment, for JTAA and then be 3_ease~? from the Village by JTAA for ~,~1.C0 a year. This way we would. be able to insure the contents if it were owned by the Village, Mayor JLapes suggested the money come from the Park Capital improvement Fund» Little moved, "that we allocate X5,000, from the Park. Capital Improvement Fund to the JTAA for .replacement of the equipment lost by fire at the park and that the Village of Tequesta lease back the equipment for ~l.,C`0 to JTAA". Stoddard. seconded and vote on the motior. was: Brown -for Goa}f -for Little Mapes -for -for Stoddard ~fc~r and therefore the motion was passed and. adopted, Mayor Mapes reviewed with Gouncil the January 29, 19$2 memorandum from Administrator of COG to the member governments setting forth proposed by-law changes» i~•'Ta~es also read the changes to Council and told Council. the changes required the approval of Council, Stoddard, moved seconded by Cook, that ARTICLE V VOTING: of the COG Bylaws be changed in accordance with the memorandum (see attached). Vote on the motion was: Brown --for Cook -for I.,.ittle -for Mapes -for Stoddard -for and therefore the motion,. was passed and adopted. The Village Manager read a Resolution entitled, A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA ESTABLISHING T~}ARCH 9, 19$2 AS THE DATE OF THE 19$2 GENERAL ELECTION. The Village Manager explained that the Resolution established the date of the election., th.e purpose , ,02-09-$2 -03 of the election, the Precincts, provided for the Inspectors of Election and appointed the Village of 'I'equesta's Canvassing Board. Cook moved, "that we accept this Resolution". Little seconded and vote on the motion was: Brown -for Cook -for Little -for Mapes -for Stoddard -for and therefore Resolution No. 11-$1/$2 was passed and adopted. Little gave a brief update on the "Tequesta Tribute". Stoddard talked about the 911 Emergency Number that recently went into effect. The meeting was adjourned at $:06 P.M.
