HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_Special Meeting_03/24/1981 MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF TEQUESTA, FLORIDA March 24, 1981 A Public Hearing was held by the Council of the Village of Tequesta, Florida at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 21~, 19$1 in the Village Hall, 357 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, Florida. The purpose of the Public Hearing was to consider a change in the Official Zoning Ordinance No. 211 for Lot 22, Block 2, Jupiter .in the Pines, Section "C". This property is located immediately west of the Executive Building. The proposed change in zoning is from R-2 Multiple Family Dwelling District to C-1 Retail Commercial District. The Village Manager advised that notice of this meeting had been duly advertised and letters had been sent to property - owners within 500 feet of this property nz~tifying them of the meeting. Notice of this meeting had also been posted on the property. • Jim Green, 320 Daly Road told Council he has met with the Attorney representing the owner of this property and he has no objections to this rezoning but would like to look at the Site Plan for the proposed building. Council reassured 1'~Ir. Green that all Site Plan Reviews are opened to the public for any public input. Pat Snow, part owner of the Villager Apartments, told Council he was against the rezoning and that the property should remain a multiple family dwelling district. Attorney tdi.l7.iam Shannon, representing Buz DiVosta who is also part owner of the Village Apartments, told Council Tfir. DiVosta was against the rezoning. Another resident of the area told Council she would rather see a rice office building than an apartment building. T~~ir. Bob Cromwell, also part owner of the Village Apartments, told Council. he was against the rezoning. Attorney Douglas Girvin, representing the petitioner told Council that his client has hired a traffic consultant to find - out if there is a problem and that he has put a lot of time and effort into the request. .. ~ 03-24-$1 -02 Mr. Girvin told Council after his traffic engineer spoke that his client would be willing to sign a covenant that this land would only be used .for an office building and that there would be no doctor's or dentist offices involved in this building. The Village Manager read a letter from a resident at 316 Tequesta Drive who did not object to the rezoning. Mr. Howard Smith, owner of the Executive Building told Council that he had just arrived and wanted to know what the rezoning would be, when told the rezoning would be from R-2 to C-1, Mr. Smith told Council that he had asked about the rezoning of this same parcel several years ago and was told Council would not approve the rezoning, • Mr. Douglas Crown, 31~ Daly Road, told Council he was in favor of this project.
